What to do with my F-250?

I have a 2006 F-250 6.0 diesel with 220,000 miles on it. It has been bulletproofed and except for a few knick knack things that needed to be fixed, it has been a great truck for me.
After just browsing around on Kelly Blue Book, it tells me my truck is worth about $5-$7k trade in and around $7-$8k private party. That has me wondering what I should do with it?
Should I trade it in now and get some equity back out of it? (I don't think that anyone would buy it private party as it has some quirky things that old trucks usually have with them, it also needs a new rear bumper and it has a big paint gouge on one of the doors).
Vehicles don't seem to be getting any cheaper and I would hate to drive it to 300,000 miles and it bomb out and then its worth nothing on trade in.
On the other hand I despise vehicle notes and would love to make it 500k miles on it.
Not sure on what to do? What say the OB?

Doesn't sound like it would cost you much on depreciation to continue driving it.

put some money into it and bring her back...
you could probably put the equivalent of a 5 or 6 new truck notes on it and have it looking and running like a classic...
then run it for another 250K miles...

I traded in a 06 with 185,000 and got 15,000 in '17. What trim level and options does it have / condition? Sounds low to me. What zip code too? Also I would check with a few dealers to see what they would give you in trade. Some local markets will fetch higher prices than others.
They sold mine on the used lot for 17,500 three days after my trade. That's the reason I think your KBB value might be a little low.

Drive it to Houston and park it...highly likely it will be stolen within 12 hrs

Recovering equity to go buy something else that’s gonna depreciate faster is rarely the answer. If you’re going to buy something else that’s worth more, it’s also going to be dropping in value faster. I’m in a similar situation, I’ve just decided I’ll drive it til it explodes or delay buying something newer until I can’t stand it. I think the functioning but old part of the depreciation curve on a full sized truck is about the only time it’s not burning a hole in your wallet.

It is the lariat, crew cab fx4, 4" superlift lift kit. 35" toyo open country m/t
The tailgate is dented from hooking up to a gooseneck
The bumper is caved in from backing into a pole
There is a large paint gouge on the rear passenger door from a sheet metal screw.
Other than those problems it's fine.
It runs great and has plenty of power thanks to the LOONEY TUNE WILD by Vivan tune it has.

Seems like the days of getting any money back out of it are long gone. I have a 2008 Duramax with 180K and I’m going to drive it until the wheels fall off.

You’ll take a 6k depreciation hit driving anything off of a car lot.

If its a good truck keep driving it unless you wanna be 50k+ into a new truck

If it's only worth that much, drive it until it dies. No big deal, and you don't have to haggle with anyone.
A dealership will probably offer you much less than it's worth on KBB, and it's worth more than that to have a working, paid for vehicle

Fix it up and drive it up til it’s dead. Car payments suck.

Yeah. do this and then start putting $ every month in savings for the day in few years when you are ready.

Truck nuts is the obvious answer.
Same. 08 duramax. 197K probably more as I’ve been running 285 55 r20 for most of its life. With cost of a new on stupid high I’m in it for the long haul. If I had half a brain I’d do a dpf delete and make lots of things better.

I’m going to do it when I find some who can help me. There are some bolts up against the firewall that are difficult to get off if you have some miles in the truck. It’s a lot more time consuming than Fords which is why I haven’t done it.
