Always in the truck: American Classic 4 1/4" 1911 45 ACP. Bought brand new around $400.
Sometimes also in the truck: Kel-Tec P3-AT in 380 ACP. Bought brand new for $250; Kahr CW45 in 45 ACP. Bought brand new for $330.

carrying it in and out can increase the chances of someone knowing you have a gun in the truck.

Last 6 years, stopped carrying a pistol and instead got a cheap Hi-Point 995 carbine.

Short enough to point and fire most any direction one-handed inside the cab. 100% reliable. Greater intimidation factor (to avoid a shooting in the first place). Got the range on somebody else who may have a pistol. Much quieter fired "indoors" than a pistol.

Paid $195 new.

Won't cry if it gets stolen.

Carrying it in and out also increases the chances of not having it when I need it. I accept the risks vs benefits of truck carry.

You might cry now.... Been looking for the same gun for 2 months, but none to be found. Saw one at the Bossier City gun show 10 days ago.......$550!! Typical price before all the craziness set in was bout $250. In addition, the 995 is on Sen. Feinstein's proposed ban list. Who'd ever thought a Hi-Point could become so valuable?!

No shite?

Hmmm. May have to re-think what I'm doing.

Thanks for the insight.

+1

I've had one in my truck for as long as I can remember. I guess ever since I graduated high school in 96. No problems.
