What kind of spider is this?

This thing is on the back of my garage. Biggest damn spider I've ever seen around here. He's probably 2-3" long

Orb spider is another general name.

Golden Silk Spider, Nephila clavipes, often locally called the Banana Spider (due to its body shape and color), is one of Louisiana’s most conspicuous arachnids. Golden Silk’s typically live for one year.

They usually do like to setup at face level on my walking paths to the deer stands.

He's cool looking. Just kind of startled me when I was pulling weeds and cleaning off the back of the garage

They like to eat skeeters and dirt daubers, looks like he knew what he was doing in web placement.

My wife asked me to go clean those nests off. I looked up and decided they could wait until next weekend

Sorry, but nope. The one in the OP's pic is Argiope aurantia, the black and yellow garden spider.

Do they get that big? I googled it and it looks similar but says they get about an inch. This thing is way bigger than that.

Yeah, the body is about an inch. Much bigger if your include legs.
