What is this boards opinion of the zero turn Ariens Ikon X series?

I’m in the market for a zero turn mower under 3k. I have about 1-1.5 acres to cut and my land is flat and clear. I stopped to check out Gravely’s today and liked the 52” with the Kawasaki engine because of the commercial deck. On my way home I stopped at Home Depot to grab something else and noticed the Ariens Ikon X 52 looked just like the Gravely. I realized they were made by the same company and compared the available specs. I don’t see any difference except for Ariens being a lower price.
Is there a difference between the Ariens Ikon X 52 and Gravely ZT-X besides price?
What is the overall opinion or experience of the Arien Ikon X 52 for what I need it to do?

Ariens is made by Gravely.
Difference is the paint and name if you stay within the same lines.
Ariens is the residential line used in big boxes or Ace distribution stores while Gravely is the dealer.
Gravely makes residential line and with dealer incentives you can get the tit for tat Gravely for less money.
Ariens is residential
Gravely you are comparing it to is a prosumer unit.
Has faster transmission and step up from Ariens in big box.
As far as cutting 1 acre 1/2 both will do it. Any companies prosumer line will beat their residential line and last longer. For what you need depending on price versus quality the residential gravely or Ariens will do the job.

Thank you for the write up. What is the difference between the Kawasaki V Twin on the Gravely and the Kawasaki FR Series on the Ariens? I couldn’t find anything online. Also, is the prosumer and faster transmission really necessary for the 40-45 minutes I would use it per week? I don’t mind spending extra money if I feel like I am getting something of value in return.
Do you recommend another brand I should check out before pulling the trigger? I almost pulled the trigger on a Hustler Raptor but it had a stamped deck and Kohler engine at the same price as the Gravely with the fabricated deck and Kawasaki. Same thing with the Husqvarna’s. I guess a better question is how would you rank Kohler vs Kawasaki vs Briggs?

LOL, NO Hustler Raptor has a stamped deck, and a Raptor comes with either a Kohler 7000 or a Kawasaki FR engine. If u can wait until Monday, 'Raptor Season' starts and all Hustler Raptors will be $200 off. Just sayin'!

Ariens owns Gravely ,but Ariens is built by Husqvarna, Look at a Husqvarna Dealer such as
Z Equipment In Hammond La

You are right about the deck, I was wrong in my post

Get a Gravely if you’re considering the Ariens.
Hustler Raptor is a pretty good option too.

Is the Kawi here worth the extra money? I'm looking at the BadBoy line and they offer both with a $400 premium for the Kawi.

I just checked the specs and both the Gravely and Ariens have Hydro-Gear EZT Transaxles. Is one supposed to be better than the other?

Not really. The Kohler 'smart choke' had some issues in year one with the choke system but they've resolved it pretty well. I wouldnt pay $400 for Kawi upgrade, maybe $100 but not $400.

Just about anything under $3K will have EZT transmissions. Same EZT that Hustler runs on the Raptor. Been around for 15 yrs and it's been pretty a solid transmission.

Service will be difficult to get on big box mowers.

Are you saying that a place that works on Gravely won’t work on Ariens?

Many won’t and those that will put you at the back of the line, they take care of their full time clients first but you saved $200-$500 buying big box.

Service is very important. I have a good friend whose dad is a Bad Boy dealer in Woodville. The mowers are nice and seem to be well built. The downfall was the distance. He is 45 miles from me should i need service. There is a Scag dealer about 15 minutes from me. That was the deciding factor. I bought the mower that i could get serviced easily.
