Wiltznucs - I am looking for a good guided turkey hunt for my Dad and I to go one. I realize it might be late this year to get one, but willing to set it up for next year. Any advice would be great.
TIA
Easterns - try MS, KY, TN, and SC
Rios - TX, OK and KS are best. Try Fort McKavett Ranch, Magnum Guide Service or Adobe Lodge in TX.
Merriams - SD is great but so too is the desert Southwest. A lot of folks are keen on Nebraska but you may be dealing with a hybrid in that region. Wyoming kills lots of purebred white fanned Merriams that you wont get elsewhere.
Osceolas - This is the place. It's going to cost you but they kill big and with 100% success.

In my opinion, the funnest birds to hunt are Merriams. In general they are very responsive to calling and the most inexpensive to hunt.

Back in 2001, I went to an outdoor show in Shreveport. There was a vendor there by the name of Shane Roten. He handmade acrylic ducks calls. It was best double reed call I've ever used, hands down. Cost me $75. Years later, I dropped the reed stem in the water and couldnt find it.
Tried to track him down again to buy another one, but word is he got in tax trouble and fled to Mexico or something. Regardless, I killed birds for years thanks to that thing.

You wait until I let him read this!! I live a few blocks from the guy, get in touch with me and I can probably get you a reed. I have his cell phone number also.

1. Summit climbing stand has been one of my best purchases. I can hunt it from bow season through January and I can easily relocate it as feeding areas change throughout the season
2. My Extrema2 can ALWAYS be counted on in the harshest of duck hunting conditions and will shoot any shell i throw in it... from skeet loads to 3 1/2" loads.

Hopefully the best investment will turn out to be the 40 acres of timberland I purchased last month. Only time will tell. Up to now I would say the model 700 cdl .270 my wife bought me before we were married about 20 years ago. Have only adjusted the sights once since owning it. Shoots better groups than all the more expensive rifles I have purchased since and has a cheap leupold scope that is 25 years old.

Not really an investment, but got a lifetime hunting/fishing license for high school graduation. Best thing since sliced bread

Of all the hunting things I have bought, my 40 acres is the only one that goes up in value and can throw off cash sometimes.
1-Land
2-meat grinder
3-good long johns
Also, an iphone has really improved the quality of my in-stand fapping experience.

Actually did the opposite
I was spending more time in the woods to get away from her and now that we are no longer together, I spent more time trying to find split tail rather than whitetail this season.
