Any of these in a nice lever action gun and you will be the talk of the hunt.

Prepare thy shoulder!

This thing packs a whallop but will lay a hog out with a quickness.

I'm the only person I've ever seen with one.

Id like to keep the gun, scope and rings under $1000 if possible. The two other guys Im going with are using a Bushmaster 450 and a 30-30 lever action.

Would a bolt action .308 be a bad gun to use? or should I just stick with the m4? Ideally I'd get an AR-10 but right now, it would be tough for me to drop $2000 on a decent AR-10 with a scope.

No. Not as fun as an AR, but more practical for both deer and hog hunting IMO.

I've killed a many hogs and deer with my Remington 700 in .308.

Totally forgot about these guys...

FN makes a hell of a rifle. I bet it wouldn't be a bad choice.

I'm with MillerMan. If you don't already have a bolt action .308, you should get one. And it will kill the hell out some hogs and deer.

Do you currently own a scoped rifle? If so, use that. I've killed hogs with a .22, 30-30, .270 and a .40. Just shoot them in the head.

If you don't own a rifle, go buy one that can be used for both deer and hogs.
