Getting prepared to take a little camping trip.

Stopped off at a couple of places, Tractor Supply & Academy, both places were out of small 16 oz. cylinder bottles of propane. I asked and they told me it was pretty hard to find them.

Didn't really want to stop off at Wally-World so I went to a local sporting goods store and purchased a couple of 16oz cylinders, $7.99 each plus tax which amounted up to $8.82 for a 16oz cylinder of propane.

Gonna stop off at Wally-World(as much as I hate to) and see what they have tomorrow.

BTW, this is in NELA, Ouachita parish.

Around ATL it has gone from about $16 refills to $24.99 refills in the last year. For the kind you swap out at the gas station, whatever size tanks those are.

A couple of weeks ago in Lake Charles, I paid about $17.98 to exchange a 5 gallon tank at Walmart.

Save the bottles and refill them yourself off of a 5 gallon tank you will need an adapter fitting but you can find them on Amazon for ~10 bucks… it pays for itself within about 4 refills ….really easy and you want have to worry about looking for bottles next time plenty of YouTube videos on it and it’s perfectly safe contrary to some beliefs

I know, I know.

Just don't feel like lugging around a 30 lb on our camping trip, its only a couple of days with my two boys.

This.^^
I`ve been doing this for about 5 yrs. Works out to about a dollar a can to refill for me. I have a dozen small cans that I refill over and over. Keep the small cans cold (freezer) and the large warm and you will get more in there.

Didn't know that.

Its $3.79/gal at Tractor Supply and $20.99 for an exchange tank. I usually have to wait 20 minutes or so at Tractor supply to get tanks filled so I have been getting exchanges recently. May have to go back to TSC.

We fry and grill a ton.

We refill our tanks at Uhaul. Pretty much the best price you can get versus swapping at a gas station.

We bought 25 gallons (8 standard tanks) for $110, or roughly $4/gallon before tax.

Eta: They used to fill them slap full, but recently changed their policy to where it cuts off when the tank plus propane hits 30 lbs on the scale. That's about 75% full and comparable to the amount you get switching at a gas station or walmart.

A full grill tank holds about 4 gallons or 20lbs. Exchange tanks have about 3 gallons or 15 lbs

I have cheaper and quicker options.

I have used uhaul years ago but quickly stopped as I hated waiting and found cheaper options.

I'm paying 1.99 around the corner from my house.

I never ever swap.

I've never understood using the green bottles.

5 gallon tank, hose, and a distribution post was/is my go to.

If space is an issue I would use the little green cans, otherwise i'm bringing the big bottle.
