Maybe I’m late to the game, I have a regular ryobi trimmer, worked “ok”

Always noticed the pros don’t have the guard thing on end. Took mine off and holy crap. It’s like 10x better, am I late, did everyone know this

Not sure what about taking the guard off would affect the performance of the weedeater

Larger cut radius as the the string cutter on the guard is off.

Larger radius, you can back it into things instead of having to maneuver around the guard, and no more getting bogged down as much in heavy stuff.... it clears in all directions.

Yes, your legs can take a beating especially if you hit a dried crawfish mound with shorts on.

DEFINITELY affects the performance with guard off.

just be sure and wear long pants and safety glasses because once the guard comes off you can take a beating especially if you use it to edge.

I was thinking more along the lines of windows and windshields taking a beating lol

Now remove that restrictive catalyst from the muffler, put a couple holes in the baffle wall of muffler, open up the exhaust hole, tweak the carb, and then get back to us

In my experience, weedeaters work best with about 3 inches more string than the shield allows for.

Wow! Took the guard off mine this morning, what a difference!!

Feel like an idiot though as I have been weed eating for close to forty years.

Anything else I’m missing out on?

FYI...the pros that do this better be carrying a good amount of insurance. Any house or car windows damaged and it's an automatic at fault if the guard is off.

If they're pros then they know to put the guard back on before calling their insurance company.
