Seems the BR news is doing a story on some old dude claiming he owns the levee batture. State don't think he does.

Just wonder which one of you guys are on TV tonight?

It's got to be close to south BR, you can see the bridge in the background. I'm interested in seeing what they say. Old man had given zero faqs about whether the land was his or the states.

I believe it is private property. That's why people can have cows and structures there

We still own the batture in St John on our land. Family never sold or leased it. They keep calling but nothing to make my dad budge

Those levee pigs came jumping out of the bushes on me a few months ago. Scared the piss out of me.

My dad used to own 20 acre of land on the east bank of St Charles Parish. While he didn't have mineral rights, he did have batture rights and owned the land right up to the middle ot the river. He had a long term lease with a barge company to rent his batture. Didn't bring in too much dollars though.

The land was divided way, way before there were levees and the USCoE only took land needed for the levees.

USACE doesnt "own" the land the levee sits on (usually). they have servitude on a private piece of property.

It's in WBR, nothing to see here.

George Hill thinks he claimed it, port Allen doesn't think so. Hill puts up a sign, says it's his in 25 years. Accessor said that's a old law, not gonna work.

Start building the duck blinds.

Uh, sorry to be the one to mention this, but if you're referring to the Mississippi River, he doesn't own to the middle.

He may own to the "ordinary (mean) low water line." The State of Louisiana owns the bed of the Mississippi River (and the bed of all other rivers that were deemed navigable in 1812) from mean low water line to mean low water line.

I assure you that you do not own any part of the Mississippi River
