I have a 2013 Ford F150. I want to put a leveling kit but I'm not sure what size spacers to put. It is the Platinum edition so it looks pretty level but with mud tires it will need to be higher. I will go with factory rims (20") and want to put the best quality mud tire but not too "gaudy". What says the OB?

I put a 2.5 inch leveling kit on my 2009 f150 with 33 inch mud tires and it fits perfectly. No rubbing at all

Nice. What are the most quality mud tires out there?

Can someone explain what a leveling kit and spacers are?

I have stock 19s and wouldn't mind getting 20s or 22s (wheels) when the tires I just bought wear out.

I see the terms above thrown around frequently but have no idea what they mean.

I have Cooper Discovery STT Pro and really like them.

Some other popular brands are Toyo, BFG, and Nito

Leveling is usually a 1.5" to 2.5" lift done on the front tires only. Most stock trucks ride a little higher in the back so this tends to "level" it out... If you go overboard with it you can make your truck lean backwards... often called the "California Lean"

Spacers are something that brings the wheels out from center. Some people with aftermarket rims just buy an offset rim to accomplish this. With factory rims you need a spacer to push the tires out a bit.

If you go WAY overboard with both you might as well order several light bars, a Yeti sticker, and some truck nuts.

it looks pretty level
So why would you need a leveling kit? I'd call it and unleveling kit.

If you replace the stock tire with a mud tire of the same size you definitely will not rub. Mud tires that are the same size as a street tire always look bigger.

I leveled my wife’s 4Runner and went with BFG all terrains that were the same size as the original tires to avoid rubbing and speedometer issues. They look bigger than the orig tires bc of the treads.

Slight thread hi-jack, but can leveling kits cause your truck to ride rougher, tremble, or just cause uneven wearing on front tires, or added stress to the suspension?

Just seems like when a product is built as engineered, any modifications might cause unintended problems.

yes, yes, yes.

you are changing all the angles of the front suspension. you get your tires rotated to fix the uneven wear.

but yes it add stress to your front suspension and has been know to have a rougher ride. IMO a leveling kit should only be done for aesthetics. If you want to do any major offloading you need to get a true suspension lift.

My 16 f150 king ranch with 2.5 level With ridge grapplers sits just right. it’s a metric tire works out to be a 34 12.5 20,, 35s rub slightly and would need grinding off the unpack bar to fit.. something I was willing to do for 35s

I have a 2013 f150 with leveling kit. 2” in the front and nothing in the back. I have 35x12.50 toyo mt’s with 54k miles and still look great. Rotated with every oil change though. I had purchased 3/16 spacers for the front tires thinking I would need them to stop tire rubbing. The only issue I have is backing a trailer. If I cut the steering wheel all the way the tires barely rub and not enough to even justify a spacer. I have no issues with every day driving and parking and only when jack knifing a trailer to get it in a tight spot will rubbing occur.

It adjusts the weight distribution so it’ll ride different. Make sure to get an alignment when you put the leveling kit on as well.

This and eBay is a good place to buy the leveling kit. For mud tires, its Discount Tire Direct

Another quick hijack, I have a 16 z71 and am in need of new tires soon. What is the biggest I can go without doing a level?
