While waiting on the tow truck, figured I'd post and see what people think the issue could be.

Driving along and could all of a sudden feel the truck kind of pulling back. Car in front of me was turning and when I went to speed back up, rpms were barely moving. Pressed a little harder and it kind of caught and was normal for a minute. Happened again shortly after and wouldn't take any gas. Put it in neutral and coasted to the first turn off. Just tried to turn back on and truck shakes a good bit while in park.

Got a check engine light? If it was a 04-08 F150 I would say fuel pump driver module.

Maybe cylinder misfire due to bad spark plug, coil pack, coil pack boot or spring.

Reading up about the coil pack. Symptoms match pretty good.

Rough engine idle, rpms dropping during acceleration, and stalling

That’s what you get with a ford.

Check fuse 27 under hood. It's for the fuel pump. There is a tab with a relocation kit for a better style of fuse. I think this might apply to 09.

When we took the truck off the tow truck my gas was at empty, even after starting. It was around half full before the issue started. Could be that.

Take the negative battery cable off for 10 minutes, it will re set the computer.

At least try it prior to spending money

That's exactly what it is. Gas gauge probably malfunctioned a bit. It happens.

Now he probably has clogged fuel filters too.

Bro, I got a 2009 F150. Battery died with boat attached at the marina in Saturday. 3 hour ordeal.

Those are the types of things that just drive you crazy.
Couldn't make your boat battery work in the truck?

I make sure to have vehicle batteries tested regularly,It's free.
