Wade fishing belt and tools

I’ve been wade fishing with a guide in Galveston for a few years and love it. Looking to build my own rig for an upcoming trip in Louisiana. Any recommendations on belts, stringer, net, anything else?

Used to use a floating ego net which I still carry on my boat. Was too many sharks for me to have a stringer or a floating basket.

Hookset has the best belt and will last the longest. If you want to carry a box with lures you will need to purchase an additional pouch for it (Check out Hookset's website). The Foreverlast belt is another option but not much cheaper. H20 quickdraw belt from Academy is serviceable and will get the job done for less.
Stringer - Grind Terminal Tackle or Stinky Pants are probably the best two. Try to find the longest you can. An alternative is a fish basket (don't be fooled they aren't shark-proof).
Net- Ego or foreverlast. Pay a little more and get one that floats so that it doesn't sink and constantly get wrapped around ankles.
Outside of that a pair of wading boots would be a good investment. Simms are really worth it if you plan on getting really into it. If it's just a time or two here or there you can use old tennis shoes or the zip up booties.
Since you're in Houston I strongly recommend going to Fishing Tackle Unlimited aka Heaven on earth. They can legit get you outfitted correctly

I love my Coastal Fishing Gear “Wade Right.”

I like the extra rod holder on the back because I always take two rods with me when wading. Also the back support is a big plus if I’m out for several hours.
Highly recommend!

Keep it simple - 25' stringer, trout bat, handful of plastics and jig heads in a bag in shirt pocket. All you need.

Unfortunately I have no idea who makes my stuff I got it from Puglia's several years ago and it still holds up well and works.
A wading belt that offers a place to hold a rod while untangling fish and to carry extra lures is very nice. Also having pliers that won't go to shite in a few trips in the water is also nice.
I don't use a basket I use a large stringer however I have one that I can push a button and detach the stringer from me in case of shark attack again not sure who makes it but it works well also.
Typically sharks aren't a big issue but last summer they were awful I detached three separate times not fun at all

That's the Grind Terminal Tackle Stringer. I have the same one and like it.

Id recommend a Boga grip over a net. More expensive but it will last forever and you dont have to worry about treble hooks getting caught up in the net.
As far as a tacklebox I like one with a shoulder strap rather than having one on your belt in a velcro pouch. You can buy a tackle box, drill a couple holes and attach a strap for $15-20 or you can buy one from Stinky Pants or Feral Concepts for $60.
Heres an easy DIY I did for mine

Small bat for bopping them on the head. Can't spit the hook if they're unconscious. Plenty available for purchase, but easy to make a wooden one as well.

Ordered a stringer from Grind Terminal Tackle this morning and he personally delivered it to my house while I was away at lunch. With that kind of service he's hooked me.

But then u have a stringer of dead fish?
Posted on 5/26/23 at 3:53 pm to TwoFace
Not typically (just stuns them mostly), even if you do, so?

If u have a dead fish in your livewell, do u just leave it there all day? Or do u put it in ice chest asap? I'd prefer not to drag dead fish around on my stringer, unless it is cold-water winter months.

EZ Wade belt. These are a little expensive but worth it if you do a lot of wading. They offer a little flotation and a lot of back support. You can find them cheaper sometimes if you search around.

These are great for keeping fish alive longer than on a stringer and you can toss fish in these faster than you can string them.

If you're Wade fishing in the same spot all day, you're doing it wrong. I've never been more than a few hours without being able to dump in the cooler, and that's a stretch.

I don't put fish in a livewell, I don't fish glitterboat tournaments.

Glitter boats. That's funny. I don't have a glitter boat, I have a 10 year old pathfinder, and I don't fish tournaments. I rarely ever use my live well, I just throw fish straight in the ice chest, and I do wade some, not a lot, because my back starts to hurt. If it seems I'm being a dick to u, it is not my intention. I've just never whacked a trout in the head with a trout bat. Though if I did, I'm sure I would giggle.

Nope, not at all.

Quite common here. I wade more than fish from the boat from April-June, from front beach to Curlew. Honestly don't think a single guy I fish with uses a net. The bat can also be useful for sharks. Lost a couple to a shark yesterday.

Made this for when I’m wade fishing. All you need.
