Thinking about running from Venice to key west for vacation. Has anybody made that run?

It would be less than 2k in fuel and figure it would take 17 hours plus any fishing time along the way

Yes we did it in 15 hrs. It’s all about the weather though because I’ve seen some big yachts torn up when the gulf got whipped up.

570 miles (per previous post) in 17 hours is 33.5 mph average. That is scooting for going across the gulf.

Isn't that route kind of void of good fishing spots.

I did a similar route to key west and the fishing guys were saying there was only a stretch or two for prime fishing. We got some wahoo and dolphin. Put the wahoo straight on the grill, which was nice

First of all, it would be much cheaper just to fly.

Second of all, that big thing on a map labeled “Gulf of Mexico” ain’t no little pond baw. If some weather kicks up you finna take an arse whoopin, or worse.
