New truck prices are way out of hand. Went shopping about 1 1/2 years ago. I was in shock. 50K for a truck? Screw that shite. Still driving my old Dodge 2500, 2004 with diesel and over 200K miles. runs like a champ and still gets 22.3 MPG no matter if I driver 45 or 85.

If you're paying almost 800 a month, you probably can't afford the vehicle.

I just got a 2015 with only 28k miles. Anything less than 10k per year and Im happy. Don't buy anything with >50k
This is EXACTLY how I shop.

I paid 23k for a 2013 f250 crew 4x4 6.2 with 37k miles if that helps you.

I don't have pics on this phone.

50K for a truck?

That's the downside of having maxed out trucks with luxury sedan interiors.

ford or chevy is "ok" at 100k and they should go to 200k no worries, at 250k i would start watching for signs of smoking, burning oil, or power loss. i am not familiar with dodge but i would think they are about the same.

toyota im good with up until 200k and they should go to 400k no worries, at 450k i would start watching for signs of smoking, burning oil, or power loss.

i am not familiar with honda or nissan but i would think they are about somewhere between ford, chevy, dodge, and what you get with the toyotas.

Got a Tacoma with 100. Still feels like it would be a brand new truck. 0 issues whatsoever.

I have a 2010 f150 xlt 4x4 and just rolled 191,000. I’ve replaced the ac, changed the spark plugs, and replaced some fluids. I’d say that’s pretty minimal. It started shifting a little hard about a month ago and the check engine light came on for an O2 sensor. I’ll replace the brakes for the first time as soon as i get a chance.

No major issues and it runs great in my opinion. I’m in the same boat as you as far as looking for a new truck. I just can’t bring myself to have a needless note.

What's the "sweet spot" on the mileage you'd feel comfortable with?

All miles are not created equal, 30,000 a year by a soccer mom hauling kids is very different from 15,000 per dragging a loaded trailer.

The bed, bumper, and reciever hitch tells most of the story and is far more important than milage IMHO

Personally, I wouldn't want to buy anything with over 70k on a newer vehicle (2-3 yo)

Just got a call from the dealership saying I have no compression in Cylinder 7. Told me the parts to fix are 3 months back order, would recommend a new engine since its only 1 month to replace. LOFL. Told them I will be there in an hour to pick it up, so I guess I will start looking at a new vehicle.

2013 F150 with 80k miles. I will be looking at anything and everything not named Ford.

I have a 2014 tundra with 229,000 on it. Never been in the shop. Pull a utility trailer with it 80% of the time or better. Will buy another tundra. Just don't know when...

Quoted 4550 to replace cylinder head, 9700 for new engine. Told me the labor was the same, which is a bunch of bullshite.

Going to work with Ford loyalty program assistance for a last ditch effort, and if that works then get an updated quote on labor for cylinder head.

I see your point. But miles are miles with regards to depreciation.

I have a tundra and love it.

23 men in our department at work and 4 F150s owned by coworkers since 2015 have had multiple engine replacements.

One has had his ford in shop 8 times in 3 months because everything keeps dying .

Dealership couldn't figure it out and finally found parking sensor in transmission was running everything dead through the night.

Have had Tacomas and now a tundra for last 10 to 12 years and ZERO issues

The sweet spot depends on two things...

How much you're spending and how long you intend on keeping the truck.

Woof.I hope that's the eco boost.

I have a 2013 4x4 5.0 with 82k. Bought it new for $39k and so far so good.

I can't afford a new truck these days. I've had two people offer me $30k for mine in the past 7000 miles but I couldn't even fathom what these people are charging for new trucks.

The 2018 model of my truck is $63k MSRP. I think I'll drive mine until they tell me to replace the motor. Engine repairs aren't cheap but they are way cheaper than a truck note.

picked up my 2018 XL supercrew with the sport package yesterday for 32,000 after TT&L
flow thru console
8" touch screen
paint to match bumpers w/fog lights
black sport cloth seats

only thing it has that I didn't want was cloth flooring instead of vinyl.
