I've been wanting to catch tripletail and make it a point to check crab trap bouys as I drive past them. Are they hard to see? What depth should water be? I've had zero luck ever even seeing one.

Not at all hard to see, need to be looking though…they get a ton of pressure, so the art of catching them is much harder than spotting them. Live shrimp free spooling is the only way I’ve had luck.
We’ve tried to snag them with a treble hook after they rejected everything else in the tackle box (fishing tournament where no one else caught one either). They aren’t easily spooked…they can be very picky though.

That's an excellent haul for never having fished an area
I need to break in my new lower unit and was going to slowly make my way to Taylor Reef tomorrow morning but I'm not fooling with 20kt wins and 2-4' seas

Hard fishing but we stumbled upon some pylons on a nearby island that held a mess of dinner plate sized flounder
Nice!
Flounder fishing/gigging has been incredible this year.

There are none around here. They taste like shite. No fun to catch. No fun to fish for at all. Don't waste your time with them.
