the only ones I would watch are the ones that have squirrel hunting with dogs or hunting rabbits with beagles. They can't "FAKE" these!!!!

I only watch duck hunting shows although I can only take so much blasting Mallards since Mallards don't migrate to LA anymore and it makes me jealous.

I really like the Zinc show since the camera work is over the top and Fred Zink seems really down to earth. I also watch the RNT show and Mojo TV since Terry Denmon is from Monroe. Honey Brake Experience I will watch sometimes.

mine too. Hard to pinpoint it but it seems the show has lost some mojo since his accident.

TV Hunting Shows by Tiger inTampa
They've pretty much turned hunting into a shitshow, "industry". They're pretty much all shite IMO.

"what did it score

I hear a lot of people complain about this and I have to disagree. Score kinda puts things in perspective to me. I also know that the score of an 8pt cant be compared to that of a 10. I like the technical part of separating one nice 8 from another.

Although now everyone thinks they can age deer and score them in the wild like a damn biologist. 90% of the time someone tells me they saw a 3 or 4 yr old 8pt they let walk so he can get another year I assume its a 2yr old. Mostly because a lot of 3 or 4 yr olds look mature compared to what most hunters usually see and by then they are above most clubs minimal requirments

shows is they turned most "hunters" into a bunch of trophy snobs.

Hell if I know.

Careful Columbia. Last year I posted a comment on a thread here admitting that I had no idea how to "score" a buck. Said I grew up hunting for meat and to enjoy my time in the woods and if a buck had a big rack then it was a bonus. Well, I got ripped by the guys on here. So easy with the "trophy snob" talk my friend.

I grew up similar and I get the score thing to an extent, but I just hate what hunting has turned into for a lot of people. Deer hunting and duck hunting is flooded with people now that 20 years ago wouldn't have stepped foot into the country.

Now you even have people glamorizing squirrel hunting. Use to I could count on one hand how many guys besides myself squirrel hunt. Now everyone is getting squirrel dogs and turning what use to be a nice quiet stroll through the woods into a party.

Maybe I'm being too negative about it, but it just annoys me. Next thing you know we will be seing Deer, Duck and Squirrel tournaments.

30 years ago my neck of the woods was full of rustic camps, 3 wheelers / jeeps and broncos, and still some large tracts that rand dogs. Leased land was affordable and people got dirty

Camps are now "lodges", kills are called "harvest", the 3 wheeler on muddy rutted up trails became electric carts on manicured roads. People use to make their own cover scent and now the varieties are endless in plastic bottles mass produced.

I think this is connected to the fact that 30 years ago there were a small handful of hunting on TV and if you wanted to watch it you had to rent or buy a VHS tape. Now there are 3 channels on satellite dedicated to product placement. The " take a buddy hunting" and "introduce people to hunting" imo is nothing more than a gimmick to have more consumers out there.

I enjoy most all of them. I know there is alot of work that goes into what they do, so i am not going to bitch and moan about it on the internet because i think i could have done a better job.

What difference does it make to you what hunting is to other people? Different people hunt for different reasons, and if some folks want to pass bucks that don't score enough for them, who cares?

The positive side of this is the more hunters, the more pro-hunting voters. If hunting lost participants, you can bet your bottom dollar that the left (PETA, anti-2nd Amendment coalitionists, etc) would eventually try to outlaw it legislatively.

Fishing shows have gotten just as bad...

I remember seeing Bill Dance fishing in a cove on Toledo Bend when I was a kid. Just him and his camera guy. Last 10 years or more, he's filmed fishing in some stocked pond full of 8-10lb bass.

Jimmy Houston too... What happened to showing them trying to locate fish on an actual lake and then teaching you how to catch them?

As far as Hunting shows, All I care to watch is Meat Eater and Pig Man.
