Anybody every hunted Tunics Hills WMA? Or seen turkeys there.

Place is LOADED with turkeys.....and hunters! Best WMA turkey spot for sure....
Even though they have a draw, don't go on the weekends....it is packed! I believe the draw hunts are weekends only...check with WLF.

Better be in decent shape to chase them there.
You plan on entering any lotto hunts? I think Ldwf puts out harvest numbers for each management area lotto hunt.

This is a fact. Hunted N track at height of Wuhan flu, last lottery weekend. Birds never gobbled, but was same for entire area. Like duck season, end date pushed back too far here. I’d try S track if I had to do it again, N track buts up to Angola prison, there’s a reason they don’t get far.

N track trail makes a loop. I could see where guys took bikes. Might help if you’re a run and gun type. I applied for S track too that year and got picked for north. Buffalo gnats are usually pretty bad, get a bug suit if you want to be comfortable.

Hunting turkey on public land , today, there is an 80% chance that another guy will come from another direction, if he hears the bird you are working, and will commence to pouring all that TV over calling on. Neither of yall will get it.
Especially with the so called run gun stuff. They roam and call, and eventually end up on top of a hunter who came in from a diff direction and was quietly yelping sparingly , with a tom coming. Again, no one wins.
Its tough. Back in the early days, TV did not popularize turkey hunting, and only a small gang hunted them. Most honored each other, seeing the other guys truck parked, common sense said leave that guy alone for that morning, go on down the road some. Not today.
It's just a blind luck as to whether you can get one on one, with no interference.

To be fair, the number of birds back then were much, much smaller (at least they were up here).
None of my friends hunted them. Wasn’t any need.
Now they’re just about everywhere

I tried some incredible WMAs in Mississippi. Once i literally drove up to a dozen tom’s going off.
Almost every hunt was ruined by somebody and i hunt on wednesdays

You gotta just be careful not to get him too fired up on public land until you can kill him. No point in making him gobble any more than he does on his own 30 minutes before flydown. That just gives people more time to get to him.

not being pessimistic, but there were only 4-6 birds killed on the place during the whole season last year according to LDWF reports.
If you love to breath in bullgnats by the thousands and see more people than a walmart parking lot on black friday—tunica is your place.

Private land is the only way to assure an un- interrupted hunt.
Every now & then you can get alone on public, but nowadays you will get messed up most times.
With deer it's different. Deer run from one guy, runs past the next guy. Turkey shut up , and are gone. This is why i believe many public spots has alot of turkey. None get killed.
Another strike is, youth hunts precede opening weekend. Just the sheer traffic, people in the woods, by the following week, all is quiet.

When turkey hunting public land, I enter the woods mid morning after everyone leaves.....works for me.

I hunted it about 5 years ago didn’t hear a Turkey or see a Turkey. Heard a shot and later found out a guy killed a jake. Not my kind of hunting but I was glad I got to see the place I wouldn’t mind going back just to hike

saw two in kung flu year lotto, both were battling gnats and flies something fierce. also ran into a hiker carrying an olympic style pistol...
im in pretty good shape for our age, but that place is dangerous.
