Trapping Hogs

Looking for some advice on how to trap hogs. What’s the best traps to use? I have large hogs (350lb) bombarding my deer plots. I’m looking to trap and “dispatch” them. What traps work the best for catching 3-4 hogs at a time and keeping them trapped for maybe a day or two?

well its not a trap but i have a .300 blackout w/ a thermal scope set up for the pigs on my place. Id gladly come take some off your hands. A few of my buddies who post here have the same gun set up as myself. Im always up that way as my camp is about an hour north of you. I am actually headed there tonight to go shoot some.
I have built a #6 trap (as described in the link above) and it works but shooting them is way more fun

Corral traps are the best, especially if you can trigger them remotely via cell coverage.
I have had some success with the Tractor Supply traps. Killed 9 in January out of them. You just end up having to pressuring them enough to move off your property.
I have also had some success pouring cheap cake mix and/or vanilla flavoring over the top of corn in the traps.
Plan ahead of where you are going to dispose of the dead hogs. If you are simply wanting to keep them off your property putting their formerly living sounder mates along the property line tends to discourage them.

I may take you up on that offer. I’ll need to run it by the lease owners to get their approvals first. Thank you!

That’s a very good idea! I’ll be sure to place the “dispatched” ones in places that will detour others from coming onto the property

If you’re around agriculture, the USDA might send out a hog trapper.

Lots of valuable information in this thread! Thank you

Also, the state does have trappers that will place traps on your property.

Figure 6 or Circle C trap. I’ll be putting mine out this spring. Hoping to trap around 50 between March and May.
Materials will run you about $300, but can trap 10-12 hogs at a time.

Built this trap in Winfield last week. $400 including remote trigger which can be activated from the camp.

In my opinion, you will need a trap with a large guillotine-type gate for hogs that big - they are tough to trap. (they're wise and their size needs a larger opening)

Jager Pro traps are bad arse but expensive. You can rent them from LSU Ag center for cheap. Not sure if they still do it though.
The cheapest and most deadly option would be to have an OB get together. You supply the beer and we bring the thermals.

I’m in the same area. We killed 15 or so during deer season. I plan on putting a hurtin on ‘em this spring. I’m trying to get them to move off our place.

What remote trigger are you using?

Jaeger pro and boar busters appear to be insanely effective.

That looks like a great set up, and relatively inexpensive compared to other options. I had a guy wanting to charge my $500 for. 4x4x8 swing gate trap!!

We bought a 12v actuator and 12v wireless remote on Amazon for roughly $30 each. Wired it up with an old boat battery and a 12v solar panel. Gate is 8ft wide. T posts holding the gate are 7ft, the t posts holding the cattle panels are 6ft.
