Same BS in Canada. Killing thousands of ducks and geese a year and donating them to food banks and you have to pay a bird processing fee bc the hungry need their birds "table ready". I was speechless.

It sounds funny until you realize you're targeting rape victims and beaten spouses.
I stand by this unpopular comment.

When I had more than I could use i gave it to people in my community that I knew for sure needed it.

Seriously, food banks might take it, but everybody is worried about liability
That is probably the biggest hurdle when trying to give away stuff, especially perishables to an organization.
My brother-in-law, who is retired from LDWF would often donate fish or other seafood to shelters and he never had a problem doing so, but they also knew he was with the LDWF and not just some guy off the street.
I've got a friend that hunts deer and doesn't eat the meat so he gives me and a few other backstrap, roasts and has even has some of it processed and gives out the sausage free of charge.
I, in turn give him stuff from my garden or food already cooked that I have in excess to reciprocate.
