Wow. That’s a standup operation right there. Most guides/charter fisherman will gladly take your money and go “oh well that’s why it’s called hunting/fishing.”

Not sure about him or them. But we seen a guy at Fishermans Sunday, he had killed a pretty pair of Old Squaw in Sabine refuge. Said a good flock of 20 plus banked in right over the decoys low to the water and he was able to get a pair and he was headed straight to a taxidermist.

Now you tell me where in the world did they come from???

Just got back from camp in terrebonne marsh. Sat tons of flight birds, teal and grays moving around until front hit. Should have had 6-8 birds, but guy on the end they were coming from was more interested in his Bud heavies and we scratched. Yesterday didn’t see 40 ducks, no birds up high, no ringnecks. But ended up with 2 grays and a mottled. Today didn’t see 20. My gear is going into storage.

odd for duck guides.. finite days to pay fixed costs.... fishing guides... way more days..

There is a guide near where we hunt that told me last Friday that Jan. 2019 was the worst January he has seen since 1971, when they started keeping records of all their hunts by number killed, locations, species, conditions, etc. That morning he had taken out a group to goose hunt which he said he had never done before in January, but wanted his clients to have something to shoot at.

Saw him again Saturday and they saw about 50 mallards and pintails and got 12 mallards, which is good for this year.

Impressed me, too. Sure they will give him their business and recommend him going forward. Many guides are penny wise and pound foolish about that stuff. This guide was clearly penny foolish (one weekend) and pound wise (future years and then telling others about him being standup).

I agree Barry there isn’t an acre ducks can rest without some duck commander face painted kid sky blasting. Our lease hasn’t had ducks in years but every lease boardering ours has blinds every 500 ft

you realize most of the "older guys" that never hunted till they were grown ups are way worse about this than kids....

I'm not referring to flood waters this year. What I'm referring to is the state needs more area dedicated to habitat and rest for ducks.

Kids can be coached. Middle aged men cannot.

That's not the case in NELA. Up here there is the DU Project at Russell Sage WMA, the beanfield on D'Arbonne NWR, and most of Mollicy on Upper Ouachita NWR. Plus just across the state line in Arkie there is the rest area on Felsenthal NWR and also the rest area on Overflow NWR.

Probably too much rest areas up here on top of the mega shite ton of flood waters everywhere else.

This needs to be addressed soon by our government. Arkansas banned them on WMA's and I can tell you from personal experience that it makes a difference.

I'm aware of that. When the water is right good hunts can be had. Sucks that it stayed up almost the entirety of the season.

Are you sure about that? I know they were considering it, but I do not believe it was ever approved.
