Neat looking contraption. I have no idea why anybody would want one, much less pay 3 grand for it.

To be perfectly honest, this isn’t my style. But I won’t crap all over it either. If long range precision target shooting is your thing, I guess it’s cool. I much prefer wooden stocked traditional hunting rifles, but not everyone is into that.

Did you get the proof barrel? I have 2 rifles with them and they are incredible.

also does it use proprietary mags or can it accept AI and such?

solid.

It looks like it checks all the other boxes so didn't seem like they would have done anything wrong there.

looking forward to a range report

Don't worry about it Carson. The same folks who make comments about someone having a $5k rig fail to mention they have more than that tied up in a few Rem 7400/Nikon combos and 870's in their safes. Its all in what you want to spend your money on. Me and my dad are polar opposites when it comes to guns. Hes got a huge safe full of $400-500 rifle combos where I went the other route and bought fewer but nicer guns and glass. We've probably got the same money invested. Granted he owns a lot more guns than I do. But I still think its funny he always likes to borrow my guns and I gladly let him. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be the hunting and gun nut I am today

Nah, the AR mags were a miss.

Should have been AI mags so the rounds could be loaded longer.

I know KBs reasoning for the mags, but it doesn't make any sense. The people spending what Carson spent aren't going to bitch about a $70 mag when it allows them better performance. I get he wants to be able to go to academy and buy mags, but lets not pretend that you can't get an AI mag in a couple days online.

I don't know Carson's financial sitch, but I could statistically fathom a guess that he, and 99%, of the OB, doesn't have "frick you" money. So I could see where someone who chooses to spend their hard earned money on a damn good rifle setup, foregoing other things, might bitch that it cost them $350-$700 to have 5-10 mags for said rifle. And even if money wasn't an object that's ridiculous just on principle.

If get it if it was limited to 308.

Its a $3000 rifle. $70 for an AI mag isnt that much. Tikka mags are $40 and almost $100 for the ctr magazine. Glock mags are $25. Its not really all that unreasonable that a multicaliber gun could use a magazine with a longer OAL to take advantage of the higher BC bullets out there now. I would guess that most people spending this much would just buy fgmm 308 and then load for fast 6mm or one of the short magnums. I doubt a 6 creed with 110 smk will fit in an ar10 magazine with enough powder to make it worth the effort. So what is the point then of a 3k multicaliber gun that cant make use of the best available components?

Its a cool rifle, just think they missed by limiting users to a pmag or sr mag. Will those even feed a 300 wssm?

Accessories on low volume rifles can get out of hand.

I mean, it wasn't so long ago that folks were giving $20 or $25 per for an AR mag during the various panics we had. Now, what, in bulk, you can get them, $7.50, $8 a piece delivered? Maybe a buck more at most, right?

So, that hurts when a guy tries to sell a $70, for sure. Sure would hurt to buy one. And I'm rich (although not filthy rich, of course).

Was just googling.

Looks like ruger has AI type mag that is only like $33 bucks.

Ill have to see what the OAL is and of it compares to a real AI mag.
