Live bait is allowed for PaddlePalooza and Fallin Tide, I think BCKFC will have one other live bait allowed tournament this year but someone can correct me.
In 2017, live bait was allowed at Paddlepalooza AND PAC Attack. PAC Kayak Rentals is a great sponsor of the club, and the club elected to open the PAC Attack tournament up to live bait primarily to the benefit of PAC Kayak Rentals who sells live bait and was hosting the tournament.
Fall N Tide has traditionally always been an artificial only tournament, but there has been discussions of opening up this one to live bait as well. The format of Paddlepalooza and Fall N Tide tend to attract families (wives, kids) and even anglers who might not be regular tournament fisherman. A live bait option would be more attractive to bring those individuals out to come fish Fall N Tide and have a good time. After all, the club's mission statement is to "Promote the sport of kayak fishing."

Loaded up Sunday morning and headed down to Isle, well just off Hwy 1. Not alot of people roadside fishing but winds were down and sun was out, anyway
Dropped the at boat at the "snake pit" and went into Thunder bayou.
Water was on a low tide but very clear managed a good buzz, 3 reds lost a couple more so no limit, not a trout to be seen unfortunately
Not a great day but beat working..

Saw this guy on a grass flat in about 2 feet of water. Normally big blacks don't go after my little down south paddle tail, but I put it inches from his face and he sucked it in. *would not recommend on a lightweight trout rod, but it worked out.
My kayak is going to stink for months now.

Who all is fishing LKFC's Marsh Madness? Anybody up for a scouting trip to Cocodrie soon?

How does that tournament work? Don't you have to put a bag of baits together and each angler is randomly given one?
Posted on 2/19/18 at 2:15 pm to Drunken Crawfish
I'd do it but I'll be on my honeymoon that weekend, it's easily my favorite tournament of the year just because of the unknown of not knowing what you'll be fishing with for the day. It also takes some of the guesswork out of figuring out your own tackle, what you get it what you get.
You put your name on a ziplock bag and in that bag place 8 soft plastics of your choice and one wildcard(topwater, spinnerbait, spoon, etc). You don't want to load it with crap as A) You can pull your own bag and B) if the 1st place winner fished with your bag you get $5 from each entry, last year just that sidepot was over $300.
Each bag is taken at the meeting beforehand, numbered, and numbers are drawn. Whichever number you get is the bag of plastics you fish with.
On top of that you're allowed to have on your boat 8 jigheads/hooks, one cork, leader material, and another personal wildcard of your choosing. Pro Tip: You can pick your wildcard AFTER you've drawn your bag. EX: Last year I pulled a bag with a topwater, so I grabbed a spinnerbait as my personal wildcard, the year before I got a bag with a spinnerbait, so I grabbed a topwater.
Also consider some variety to your jighead/hook selection. It's not uncommon to get some bass style plastics so it's best to plan accordingly. Last year my heaviest fish came while jigging the bottom with a Texas rigged Matrix.
I believe we'll be going over the tournament at the meeting tomorrow night then doing a Q&A for the meeting on March 20th if people have questions.

I'll have a booth setup at Beer & Gear.
As far as direction for Cocodrie, I suggest going Northwestish from the marina. Check out Google Earth and do some scouting, there's plenty of little shallow ponds and cuts and drains that hold fish. Also the larger canals cut through the marsh will get deep(10-14ft) where they make sharp turns and will sometimes have reds and trout hanging out deep.

Friday night March 2nd, they'll have reps from 13 Fishing, Accent Paddle, Bonafide Kayak, Costa Del Mar, Duce, Fin Collector Baits, Ginger Avenger Lures, Hobie, Jackson Kayak, Native Watercraft, Nucanoe, Simms Fishing, Werner Paddle, Yak Attack, Yak Gear / Railblaza, Yakima, Yeti, etc with products to check out. Each vendor also has to bring 4 cases of local beer from their area, they also give away a good bit of prizes including a kayak. Last year they gave away the PA14 Steve Lessard used for Hobie Worlds 2017. Its a good time, there's free beer. It's basically a leadup event for their big demo day, which is the Saturday after Beer and Gear.

Does P&P have the 2 new Titans yet?
Posted on 2/19/18 at 4:40 pm to LSUlefty
They have a Titan 12 on the floor right now I think, not sure if they have a 10.5 or 13.5 though.
