I've had a couple of encounters fishing in south LA, but not many. Typically just slide under the water and disappear.

Haven't had it happen to me in a kayak yet, but several times in a boat where a gator kept following my cork or a topwater lure back towards the boat.
do the gators ever bother you?
I'm more afraid of a cottonmouth sneaking up behind me and crawling into my tankwell without me noticing than I am of gators.

That is my nightmare. That may be the day I have to sell the yak

I fish an area that has multiple 10-12 footers and they are more scared of you than anything. During the spawn I’ve heard them growl but that’s it. I’ve seen babies and I left them alone because you know momma isn’t far behind.

Mung found a decent pattern on the perches behind that bridge Saturday. Shallower than I would have ever fished. Under cork too. It was fun.

I was fishing Lake Martin a couple years ago. And while I was unloading everything and getting ready to put in, a swamp tour had just got back. These older couples (from somewhere up north judging by their accents) walked up to me and was asking if I was going kayaking in the lake. They were seriously concerned for my safety. They kept trying to convince me not to go. “Have you seen the size of those alligators in there?”
I explained to them that as long as you keep your distance they don’t mess with you. But those poor people were really worried.

The only time I have been actually afraid is when hooking a grinnel and having them flop around by the boat. Gators come to that at Spring Bayou.

Only time I've been scared is seeing those glowing eyes while bowfishing. I will head in a different direction. Objectively I know they can't hurt me, but it's still creepy AF.

I wonder how many trout are left in that area though

You didn’t say trout
But I’ve well at the pumping station with both flounder and trout, no trophies but would weigh

I saw that post on the BCKFC facebook page, but how true is that? a lot a shite talking and subterfuge goes on the week before the tournament.
Most years you can't buy a flounder. The one year I weighed a cajun slam, everyone had one, came in 17th place.
I gave up hunting flounder and focus on a big 2-fish slam. Besides, I'd rather go home with a box of trout anyway.

If you believe that post on the BCKFC page on tournament week, I have some beachfront property in Nevada to sell you

Yeah there will be plenty of misleading reports the next several days

Not sure about the FB post but the last trip there was in late Dec, hell to be honest the only place I’ve done well around CL is the pumping station, but have caught flounder in it
post up early, drop a 3/8 jighead, might get lucky
I’m not fishing PP but in that 10 mile stretch it’s the only place I have caught 1

Ive caught them in leeville by the entrance to the south Texaco field. Raised to catch a lot of them in grand isle but not much in years.

I've only caught flounder south of the Leeville bridge. It kinda depends on where you're staying as to whether you're going to fish north or south. It's too long of a drive for me to fish Bason's if I'm staying at Bridgeside, vice versa if I'm staying in Golden Meadow and want to fish behind GI high school.

What's the story with all the Flounder trolling on the Bayou Coast Facebook page?
Posted on 4/30/19 at 2:42 pm to LSUlefty
Slam tournament and flounder are hard to catch
