I paddled a SS127 at a P&P demo and fell in love with it. If I can get that with a good pedal drive, shut up and take my money.

Just based on the amount of negatives I've read about that drive, I am staying away for now. Just not enough negatives to the Natives to move away yet.
I kinda looked at the CoosaFD before I went with my Slayer 13. The biggest negatives on the Jackson was the steering wasn't designed well from the jump. Also, to service the drive you have to take the whole boat in since the gears and whatnot are housed in the boat. I love their idea and concept but it just doesn't have 10 years of r&d behind it. I'm happy with my boat now but when I look again in a few years I'll check the Jackson out again and see how far they've come along.

What how this guy handles the Slayer 12 LT

Yes pedal, Wilderness system radar 135
And it’s been a great rig had it for 2 yrs with no major issues
The drive is solid I’ve been on several 10+ mile trips with no leg pains
It’s designed to pop up if you hit anything significant which is scared the frick out of me more than once but
it’s not a super fast boat (prop 14” @ 6:1)
More anti fatigue and very stable but being a prop drive grass is an issue, seat (Air ProMax) is best on the market IMO
All in all no ragrets and yes Lefty P&P sells

No you don’t. If the lower unit needs to be worked on, you can take the bolts out from the base of the kayak and pull it out. You also need to pull the prop off. Takes 10 min. Brought mine into Massey’s and received a replacement in less than a week. Super easy. I run mine hard and first time having issues was about 18 months after using it.

The other thing that will sway some people with the FD is the Edrive is about to ship out to dealers. You just pull the existing upper mount off and install the Edrive. Run it to a 24v battery system and if you get at least 60-80aH it will run 4-5 knots and shouldn’t run out of juice unless you run it wide open all day and the kicker is it will only retail for $599 I believe and that is a hell of a lot cheaper than the torqueedo

Man that’s a great price pt, wilderness has and drop in drive but it’s only 2k

I take it they're not selling many of those. That's ridiculous.

24 volts AND 60-80 aH ? that's going to add weight and batteries. I use a 24lb Watersnake on my hobie with a 35 aH battery. You can't use it full blast all day but you can cruise at 2.3-2.5 mph for half of it. I peddle out...or in...depending on the current and use the motor when needed. Some days I don't really use it at all.
Still, for $599 for a factory motor...not to bad.
I have my doubts on the 5 knot speeds...hull speed of fishing kayaks and all that stuff.

Speed all depends on weight, distribution, etc. All the guys fishing kbf were all using lithium batteries so the weight isn’t an issue. The reports I got were the speeds ranged from 3.7-5. I’m assuming the guys going top speed had little weight in the yak and were going with the wind/current. Couple guys are fat as $&&: so I’ll just assume they were on the lower side of speeds lol

Doh! I forgot about lithiums. That will negate the weight issue. Seems like the battery is what causes the price of the other type motors to be so high.

How big is this tournament at PAC tomorrow? Will head west if there are too many yaks and boats.

Early this wk 25 teams had signed up, not sure what it’s now
Not sure where I’m heading, might head south of PAC and launch at isle de jean

You ever launch there before?
Posted on 4/26/19 at 11:12 am to AlxTgr
My slayer propel 10 is 55lbs empty. The reason I went that route. I have a rack on my camper shell. So easy to load
Posted on 4/26/19 at 11:13 am to LSUlefty
I've launched from island road a bunch. But never on the island itself.

ICAST is a month away. I wonder if we'll see anything new.
