I assume these are the gen-1 mirage drives correct? I think the patent expired on those a couple years ago so it would make sense.

Robert Field put a video of the kayak in action. Most of it is just him talking but skip to around 4:00 mark and there’s some on-water footage

Had about a six hour window this morning to wet a line so rolled to Golden Meadow put in at the boat launch thought was to go to catfish lake fish some of the dead end channels along the way looking for troutzz
Water was really dirty and low
And wonder how many props and drives have been taken out around there, fricking pipes everywhere!
Anyway ended up back in front of the pumping station before i had any bites
They only wanted a lemonhead on the bottom
10 total and bonus flounder, After this jacked up weather I’ll take it

Nice trip
Been a busy holiday season for me. I did find time to make a trip before Christmas. Caught a handful of small bass in Half Moon.
Nothing special.
ETA: I did a GoPro video, but it’s mostly me cursing at choupique.

We really need to work on an OB kayak weekend somewhere this spring. I know there are plenty of cabins around Big Lake, but not everyone likes that area as much as I do (looking at you Unc). I’d be down to go anywhere but Coco again.

I’ve been in the process of rigging and working on my drive. I’ve sent it back and now we think we have it dialed in but I haven’t tested it yet. In the meantime I’ve installed boonedox landing gear and I bought a Lowrance elite ti 5 and all the necessary equipment but haven’t hooked all that up yet. I’m just hoping to have my rig setup and dialed in by spring.

I hope to get back out in the next 2 weeks or so

Happy New Year OB Kayak crew! After my post about an OB kayak trip, I've had a few people reach out to me about trying to get a fishing weekend set up in the next couple of months. I was going to start a new thread for this but I figured I would gauge interest from the Yak group before I did. I fish the Calcasieu estuary 95% of the time so that is the only area that I am really familiar with.
My thoughts are to get a VRBO/AirBnB for 10 to 12 in Hackberry for a weekend. It's roughly 1:45 away from Lafayette, a little over 2:00 from Cenla and about 2:20 from Baton Rouge. If we stayed in Hackberry, that will put us at a 15 minute or so drive to West Cove, Joe's Cove, Black Lake and Choupique Bayou. If you wanted to fish at Joe's Cove, you could actually launch your kayak in the canals and have about a 2 mile paddle to some spots. All are great places to fish for both trout and redfish and can be accessed by kayak. I am also perfectly fine going elsewhere like PAC, but I will need some help planning since I have never been there.
Just glancing at my calendar I am open these weekends:
February 15-17, March 8-10, March 29-31, April 5-7, April 12-14, and April 26-28. Keep in mind that as we get later into the Spring, the winds usually get stronger and the chances of rain increase.
I think we could swing less than $150 a person for lodging and food the whole weekend. We can scale up or down depending on the interest.
If you are interested in going, reply with your email, what dates you are available and if you are wanting to stay one or two nights and I'll put everyone in contact with each other. Hopefully we can find a weekend that can accommodate everyone. If we get a lot of interest, we may end up getting two places. Also let me know if y'all are good with Big Lake or would rather go somewhere else like PAC.
I hope 2019 brings y'all good tides and tight lines!
P.S. Here is the THREAD to the first OB kayak adventure. Hopefully there will be just as much drinking but more fishing this time.

Put me down as a maybe. I can't hardly say what I'm doing this weekend let alone a few months out. It'll all depend on work/on call/other commitments.

No worries. I'll try to keep the thread updated to keep you filled in. Looking like we are going to be the weekend of February 16th or March 9th as of now.

Their website has it listed as March 24th but that is a Sunday. I am guessing it'll be the 23rd.
I think I still have PTSD from last year's event.
