Is this a good deal?

For $250, yeah that's about what you should expect.

Personally, I'd hold out until you can up your budget to the $500-$700 range and you can get a really really good used kayak for that.

But if you just want to see if you like kayak fishing, that's not a bad starter.

^^^pretty much all of this. I'd look at saving a little bit more so you can get a kayak with a better seat. An upgraded seat can drastically change a kayak fishing experience.

First thing I always tell people when they start asking about kayaks is to not go cheap. At least, not too cheap. Buying a dirt cheap POS kayak can greatly influence your experience. Usually in a bad way. You don’t have to go top shelf, but don’t go bottom shelf either.

Try Facebook Marketplace. Plenty of used fishing kayaks available.

round 2 at PAC yesterday, wasn’t really expected much with 2” slack tide all day but said frick it and rolled
Water was glass all day
Spend a lot of time looking for moving H20, but found some around in the main channels in deep holes, even a couple double hook ups

That about figures, I could only fish Saturday so I did the Salty Boot deal in Choupique Bayou. Caught a couple reds, a rat red, and a 10" flounder. Wind was a bit rough at times and water was pretty fresh.

My buddy did a redfish tournament in PAC yesterday and caught 18 trout in a short time before going look for reds. Said he easily could have rounded up a limit.

Another guy I know caught a limit at the Point yesterday.

Yeah tossed it most of the day, ones at 2’ other just over 3’
Doubles are a blast either one large trout or 2 win win

WNW wind on Saturday is going to screw the east side all up. I'd hit Choupique but know it may be muddy from all the rain.

Bundle up, its going to be a cold mofo

Yessir. Hoping there are more birds in the marsh than the rice fields.

Report back on how you do.

There's a new pedal drive on the market, the Strike from Lightning Kayaks. Looks like Robert Fields had a hand in developing it, uses the Hobie-style drive like the Pelican does. Looks like they're doing a crowd funding deal, $1349 to start, then $1749 afterwards.

I like the looks of it. I am just curious at what they did to make the price so low. Seat looks a little iffy too.
