No, same color, different boat though. It's a nice boat, and was well rigged but $1500 isn't even close. It has the Native rudder kit, Native fish bag, paddle, Bending Branches Optimus Stakeout/push pole(that he's telling people is carbon fiber ), under seat storage, etc etc.

That’s ridiculous. Paddle yaks just aren’t holding that sort of value any longer. Even rigged out, I wouldn’t ask more than $900 for mine and hope for $800.

I'd list mine, but 1. I am too lazy, and 2. there isn't a clear #1 replacement right now. I guess I am still waiting.

Well, best of luck to that guy. Hope he finds a sucker.

ETA: I'll probably never sell mine. I will eventually upgrade to a peddle yak. But I'll hang on to the Slayer for my wife and kids to use.

I kinda want to keep mine too. There are still places I go where I want paddle only.

I thought the same but ended up selling out of the paddle kayaks, I sold my Slayer because I still had the Cuda, then bought the Compass and almost kept the Cuda to have as a backup. Plus, the Cuda glowed in the damn dark, honestly I'll never have the chance to buy another one of those. In the end I figured if my wife wanted to come we'd just go to PAC and rent something for the day, and if anyone else wanted to come they can buy/rent their own boat. I used the fact that it glowed in the dark to sell it for more than it was worth. The guy who bought it picked up up and roof racked it on a mid 90's Geo Metro. a 14' kayak on the roof on a 10' long car was a sight to behold.

Before I got my truck, I had a Mazda 6 my first few years of college. The trunk of that car had more ducks and muddy waders put in it than I could count. Had to strap a doe I shot in Sherburne on the hood with a tarp and ratchet straps. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

That was me that sold it to them. They also posted it for a trade.

I may end up selling it. Never know. Ideally, my wife would love the Slayer Propel 10. I just don’t want to throw that sort of money around any time soon.

ETA: damn autocorrect keeps getting me

Is that off of Bayou Amy right behind Pats? I have not been in there.

The bayou that runs along the west side of the levee. It's labelled on google as bayou portage. I guess i'm going to try it saturday, short drive there.

Yeah, they call that Bayou Amy. I've been in there one time with a buddy of mine in his boat. Caught a few sacalait. I know a guy that fishes behind Pats with crawfish tails and usually does pretty good with the catfish. He also runs jugs in there and usually loads up.

Every time I have looked at that bayou, it seems a lot muddier than anything on the other side of the levee. Sort of like Fausse Point. It too seems muddy every time I've been there.

Has anyone else noticed the abundance of kayaks that went up for sale this weekend? I gues Hobie is about to make a fortune on the new Outback.

If anyone was thinking about getting into kayak fishing, now might be the best time to buy

I know of 3 people who plan to get a new Outback, I told them if they plan to sell they might want to do it soon, the used market is about to be flooded with used Hobies.

I was looking last night just to see what was out there, they had multiple 2016/2017 Outbacks around $1,800 and I saw a 2018 for sale for $2,000.

I am thinking this might be what pushes the used pedal kayak market down to a reasonable level.

It was already getting pretty close, I've seen many of the crappy seat Outbacks in the $1200 range, sometimes less, the 15/16 models seem to be around $1500-$1800, and the 180 drive models around $2000. Don't be surprised to see people have to take less than that to get rid of them.

Side note, I sort of regret not spending the extra $250 to upgrade to a 180 drive when I bought my Compass. I'm seeing where you can convert them but parts will run you around $300 to do so. Still considering it though.

First post in the kayak thread, to show my first kayak purchase(s). I bought the Pelican Catch 120 for myself, and the Catch 100 for the gf. I know they are not up to the standards of the pros in this thread, but the stability and price was hard to beat. Especially since I managed to catch them both new on a deal. (Under $1k for both)

Gf was so excited we had to hit the water right away, even though it was raining.

I think I got some good yaks for our skill level and budget. We are lookin forward to getting them slimy soon. Probably take her perch jerkin’ a few times before we hit the marsh for specs and reds. Does the OB have an opinion on these yaks?

I was very impressed during our first outing (though my experience is limited). They are extremely stable. They are slow and tracking is mediocre, but we never get in a hurry anyway. I’ll try to give a more detailed review after I get them set up better and we have a few trips under our belt.
