I'm going to have to up my photo taking to party with some of you...
How about some love for the little guys? What they lack in size, they make up for by being way the frick up in the mountains where there aren't any other people.

Very cool. I took my fly rod to Leeville once but man the wind kicked my butt.

What is that fish in the bottom picture?

Glad to see most of the familiar FF guys have found the thread. I think as we get more interest and questions we can all really help out some of the beginners. I love seeing new people taking an interest. Those first couple outings... Sometimes a little frustrating.
So, to maybe generate a little discussion for the cold water crowd at least, what's everyone using in wading gear now? Are you happy with it? Complaints? Ect?
I'm currently using LL bean kinnebec waders - so far best pair I've owned over Cabelas guide tech, Redington, and Frogg togg. Fewer and more solid seams on them. I've had them a year now and have fished maybe 80 or so times since I bought them. My only complaint, if any, is that they're slightly baggy but I never notice it once I'm in the water. And it was helpful during the winter so maybe not a bad thing.
Boots- Simms freestone vibram soles. Some really sturdy boots with good traction so far. Only had them 3 months but very pleased. Only complaint I could see someone having is that they're a little heavier than others. Given how durable they seem to be in hoping the weight is just a reflection of sturdy materials that will last more than a couple years. They replaced a pair of Frogg togg Anura boots that were ok but wore out too soon. I'm very weary of the Boa lace up system so I was happy to find some Simms that had normal laces.

Definitely looking forward to learning. Just getting into it here in Georgia. Being a saltwater fisherman, it's been frustrating as hell to say the least. Caught bass and bluegill, but still looking for that first trout.

My waders are quite old. The are some of the 1st generation of Simms gore-tex. I guess that they are around 15 -16 years old. Yes I take good care of them when I'm not fishing. Boots are that old as well. They are Simms felt sole.
Also, have a Simms gore-tex rain coat that I love.
ETA: Also, what's your thoughts on a vest?
I hate them. After fishing hard all day a vest tends to start to hurt my back. I have a belt pack now that I really like. When not using it I slide it around to the back. It also serves as my wading belt.

I was torn between Simms waders and the ll bean ones. My decision came down to past experiences with bean in customer service and price.
I hear the Simms G3 and G4 guide series waders are great. But for $400+ they better be.
I've had 1 vest - a cabelas brand standard khaki one. It was ok but I quit using it bc I didn't love the storage and I get hot easily. Maybe I'd have been ok with a mesh one but those have even less storage. I need to be able to carry a drink, spot for a cigar, and all other essentials. Currently using a Simms sling pack and love it. Got it in April to replace the fanny/belt pack I was using. My complaint for the belt pack was carrying my net- I didn't like it banging around on my legs while hiking in

Here are a couple more. The first one was my dad's first red on the fly. No doubt because of the camo.

Nice man, I am trying to get my dad into it. I think he likes it but he is kind of in the boat of "Well I seem to be catching more fish on my spinning rod." He will learn in due time.

First red and first bass on the fly. Both using Allen Alpha 3 reel and 9' 8wt TFO Axiom.

Dude you are a boss! Those are some studs. Really awesome looking spots too.
Do you catch those on dry flies? I know nothing about cold water fishing.
