Tax Sales... Property acquisition questions

Looking for some basic information on tax sales.
Is there a master listing for LA that the state emails, or do I have to sign up for notifiers with parish assessment offices?
Does each parish have their own tax sales, or is there an auction that will cover all parishes?

No shitte! Whole lot of nothing being said on the subject. No sweat though. I think I know the answer, just wanted to start a little discussion... Guess it was a failure

Doesn't each parish sheriffs office handle these auctions?

That's what I've heard. Don't want to sign up for notifiers for each individual parish. I was wondering if there is any place on the vast interweb where one could acquire information on the state as a whole.

Each parish has a newspaper that is its required purveyor of public info, "Public Journal" i think is what they call it. They usually advertise the non-paid property in March, and you can go to the sheriff's dept and pay it. They give you a tax sale deed which is recorded in the conveyance records. You would have to pay it for 3 years then do a monition suit to get clear title though.
I have not seen any system where they will send you automatic notices, but I doubt any of the rural areas where decent hunting land could be found would have this.

Not that I know of. The state does not charge property taxes, only the parishes and municipalities.

I don't even know of any assessors or tax collectors that doe this. They publish the notice in the newpaper of record. (there may be some parishes that publish it online, but not in my area)

Yes.
Also, a sheriff sale is not the same thing as a tax sale even though the sheriff's office, as the tax collector, performs the tax sales.

The legislature has tried to allow online advertisement to suffice as legal notice, but the Newspaper lobby beats it down every year. They like the monopoly of being the Official Journal of the parish, and all the $ that brings. You should see the hundreds of $ I have to pay when advertising a sale in a succession. Ridiculous for a couple inches of column.
I would call the official journal of each parish you are looking for, or the assessor, and ask when they publish, and make sure to get that paper.

Are you saying that the law is tied down by antiquated tradition AND influenced by self-interested lobbying?!?
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
