I like the way you think.

Except, it's not a .410.

Ok, I have seen the optimal penetration of 12 inches (justdont talk to my woman ) and here is where I have a problem with it. I don't think that anyone here would argue against using 9mm hollow points vs 9mm FMJ and we all know that the FMJ has much better penetration than the hollow point.

Its that way with any pistol round pretty much but any HP creates much more damage than a FMJ

What's the difference?

I think to sum this up we have come to......

If you're killing snakes

If you're killing bad guys , unless you're shooting buckshot or slugs, in which case , but maybe. If you're shooting bad guys with the long colt, .

So to the guys buying this for their old ladys, you can hope the guy is just looking for easy loot and not hopped up on meth looking for some hard fought pussy because you're whole premise is the "spread" will enable her to hit something and basically scare them off. OR you can load her some LC's in there and let her untrained arse shoot the equivalent of a .44 mag. That's after you actually find some LC ammo that is loaded to those kinds of pressures (if they exist in production ammo).

OR

You could just go buy her a .357. That way she can shoot .38, .38 +p, .357, or even 38 shot shells (just in case a snake crawls in her window). By the way, ALL of those loads can be found at almost any Academy.

I didn't read that earlier. You think maybe some ammo companies want to get on this all new "Taurus Bandwagon"?!

I really had never considered this as anything other than a marketing ploy.

Infidel nailed it. And this thread blows my mind by just how powerful that marketing ploy worked.

I love my wife and children too much to rely on the fricking Judge for their safety.

Maybe that's just me...

I'm just surprised that a lot of guys with great insight otherwise like it. I guess everyone has their Achilles heel.

The marketing dept. is certainly to be commended.

Dude, it's really unbelievable if you think about it. Taurus hit one out the park with this. They market as the ultimate SD weapon. A premise that hardly ever really gets tested and when it does there are so many variables that you can't really test whether it really works or not. They're biggest market is mostly novice shooters that were raised on playstation and Terminator so they have no real concept of what a real firearm should be or what they should do. They still think a shotgun blows the bad guy through doors and a .44 mag makes cars explode.

It's a great idea that has worked well and basically created a whole new market in the gun world. That can be NOTHING BUT GOOD for anyone who is a gun guy. The only problem I have is now you have a bunch of guys who have bought this "gimmick" and, in many cases, used the excuse that they're buying it for their ole lady, and now they are ranting about how great it is for home defense. I feel it's irresponsible.

My good friend that is a HUGE gun guy recently tried to buy his wife a Judge. I had to sit him down and talk since into him. It's a crazy world.

To be fair, I am a proponent of buying women (that are novice shooters, or any novice shooter) a revolver. Just not this one.

ETA: I have been very (too) out spoken against them so I'm trying to find one to go shoot this weekend. I think I know a guy that has one. I want to get a better idea of accuracy, weight and balance.

honestly, i don't think the Judge is a good snake gun.. i've had hers on the tractor several times with 7 1/2's in it, shot a bunch of snakes and the pattern is not good and tight, not what you would expect. On the other hand, nmber 4's shoot nice and tight...
