Avid outdoor nut. I loving being in the swamps.
In Baton Rouge a couple of years back someone stole a car and ditched it. The dog inside was left to rot in the sun.
The courts and media cracked down on the culprit. You would be better caught murdering a human than poisoning a family pet. Even if it's inadvertent.

If you want to kill a bunch at once, you would be better served to invest in one of those coral traps that you can activate remotely when you see you have several in there. Then shoot them while in the trap. (Supressed 22 is great for this.)
It's what a couple of my father's neighbors started doing to fight the hog problem and they easily kill 10+ frequently.
It's more effective and humane than poison or blowing them up with tannerite.

Any ideas on how I should best target yotes?
Livestock guardian dogs.
Seriously.

Build a circular pen trap. Snag about 2 in trap, jump in there with a spear. More fun than that, and you would be a boss in the Coliseum 2,000 years ago.

Also, I hope anyone who does the soaked sponge thing for any animal out side of a child rapist gets jail time.
POS thing to do
Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. Bitch move IMO by someone who can’t or doesn’t have the wit/nuts to outwit and humanely kill a nuisance animal.

Soak some corn in golden malrin dissolved in coke and put out some pile where they hang out.
This is can have some bad consequences because anything that eats the corn will die. Birds, deer, coons, etc.

Also the kills aren’t ethical.
We're overrun. Ethical shouldn't enter the equation.
If someone is going to use tannerite on hogs, why not make a 360 degree claymore? A bunch of cheap nuts and bolts glued it saran wrapped to 20lb of it should wipe out a majority of them.

Jesus Christ. That would be like bombing Vietnam villages with napalm.

I know a lot of people that use the fly bait for coins at their protein feeders for coons.
If a person were to use poison for coyotes, xylitol would be the best option. It only targets K-9s. I’ve heard meatballs work best on fence rows and wood lines.
I use steel traps and calls for coyotes just as a hobby. Realistically you can’t control their population in this part of the country
As far as hogs go and tannerite... I’d guess 5lbs would be good. We split a tractor tire with 20lbs. While it would be entertaining, nothing works as good as a corral type trap

Man I hate hogs, but not sure I hate anything that much. Turrible
This thread reminds mean i forgot to post. A fella about 5 miles from my house shot 84 lbs of tannerite about a month ago. Shook every house in a 20 mile radius according to the complaints on Facebook.
That's a the story from the sheriff anyway. I'll say, from 5 miles away, my windows shook.
Would 84lbs of tannerite have that size blast impact?

Probably. I seismic surveyed and was around plenty of times when they dropped 5 and 8lb explosive charges in the ground. Had to be so far from homes. You could easily feel it a mile away.

Ethical should always be in the equation with harvesting an animal.
For the 10th time in this thread alone- if you truly want rid of hogs then buy traps. You’ll have a fighting chance to actually get them off your land.
That white trash pipe bomb your describing not only won’t be effective it’ll be extremely dangerous for whoever is shooting the tannerite. If you have enough room to see the target then there’s for sure enough for one of those “cheap nuts and bolts” to come back and it’s light out.
If you actually want to get rid of hogs and their destructive behavior then trap them or use dogs.
If you want to see something bleed just to see if bleed then do that Appalachian bomb your talking about.
Personally Idgaf

You can always tell who’s never actually been a pen with hogs.
When we would trap them - if I had someone with me who hadn’t been around them I would always bet them a 100 bucks they couldn’t put a broom up to those hogs and hang onto it for 5 seconds
Everyone took the bet. No one ever won. Including an LSU Dlineman Bennie Logan.

My brothers and I own right at 100 acres in North LA and hogs will hit certain areas of the land so being able to move the trap is a huge

We found an old school bus in the woods in Texas and damn split it in half with 30 pounds.
5 pounds will demolish most beaver dams.
The amount of sheer power is almost overwhelming the first few times you frick with it.
We used to keep some at the camp to play with but I don’t anymore with my nephew and his friends coming up there now. It takes one person not being completely safe and that shite could easily kill or disfigure your in seconds
