My oil leak on my 250 has gotten so bad that I don’t think I could even try to trade it in. May have to sink another 5k and get more life from it

There’s an oil thermostat that tends to fail right after the bumper to bumper 36k warranty is up. $2k to drop the tranny to replace the t-stat. It’s not “powertrain”… it’s an “accessory”.

I have a ‘19 Limited so not the same. Best truck I’ve had without a doubt.
My only regret is I didn’t get the 2500 and got a 1500.

Have you found the source of the leak? Is it a 6.4L diesel ?
Posted on 6/13/25 at 7:46 am to Royalfishing
6.7
Not sure source yet

Is it a Ford 6.4 diesel? If so... Bro, run far FAR way from that truck unless you plan on swapping in a Cummins.

Wait til 2026 and buy one wih the Hemi V8
Posted on 6/13/25 at 8:56 pm to Crappieman
The hemi might be the most overrated engine ever
Posted on 6/14/25 at 5:54 am to Chad504boy
It's been proven to be a durable engine. Unlike all these newer model Turbo V 6's. I hope GM goes back to the older 5.3L Vortec V8.

Do you know if they are phasing out the Hurricane engine or just reintroducing a Hemi option in 2026.?
Posted on 6/14/25 at 7:25 am to Royalfishing
The new RAM CEO didn't mention the Hurricanes future, just the return of the Hemi engine and Dodge's return to NASCAR.

Just found this
“ Although the Hurricane six-cylinder engine isn’t going anywhere, Kuniskis further went on to say: “We heard loud and clear from consumers: there is no replacement for the iconic Hemi V8. At the end of each month, we count sales to customers, not to statisticians or ideologies.”
The following 2026 Ram 1500 trims can all be optionally equipped with the Hemi V8: Tradesman, Express, Warlock, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, and Rebel. It’s a no-cost option on the Limited and Longhorn models, both of which get the 3.0-liter Hurricane high-output engine as standard.
The Ram 1500 RHO, the closest thing to a TRX with its numerous off-road modifications, will not be available with the Hemi V8. A V8-powered RHO would have been fantastic, but Ram obviously believes that the 540-hp Hurricane engine is a better choice for this extreme pickup, which excels at high-speed off-roading.”

Zero problems out of my 2021 Ram 1500. Bought from Mark Dodge, was the easiest vehicle transaction ever.

Unless you want a 6’4” bed on a 1500 Laramie.
Posted on 6/14/25 at 8:22 am to Jack Ruby
Mine is 15 yrs old with 200k on it and this is first problem I’ve had. But have replaced chassis mounts and front end. And it’s the 2010 model with exhaust incinerator l!

It pisses me off that you damn near have to custom order a 1/2ton crewcab truck with a full-size bed these days.
Posted on 6/14/25 at 9:26 am to GREENHEAD22
A 5’7” bed is useless. For people who don’t carry anything. A waste of vehicle.

Bought from Mark Dodge on Wednesday, delivered to me on Thursday, spray in liner and tint on Friday.
