Also i have been hearing some good reviews in Henderson if you choose not to go the guided route, but you know for sure you can go to south toledo bend and catch some bass and it is getting the right time of year to do it too

wish i could have took one last fishing trip with my Dad before cancer took him before last Christmas. He just got to frail and was in too much pain. If you are going to do it you need to do it very quick. I'm sorry for your Dad man. I hope y'all are able to get this trip in.

look up Jason Courville on facebook. He's one of the newer guides on the lake but if you look at his page.... it speaks for itself, posts daily results and well.... he would enjoy it

I concur with the idea for a guide. If you can afford one at all. That will allow alot more focus on your dad and memories of the day.
I can't imagine when that day happens for me. My dad is 78 and just wrapped up a 3 day duck hunt in NE Oklahoma where they shot 87 birds - his proudest part of the trip is his dog (that he trained himself) made every retrieve nearly flawless and a lot of them were breaking ice the whole way.

My dad is very sick with cancer and called me today saying he wants to go on one last fishing trip. Any suggestions on where to take him (freshwater) so he can wear them out one more time as he grew up fishing everyday. TIA.
Right there with you, Buddy. My dad was recently diagnosed with an incurable stage 4 cancer. It really sucks. They still intend to do treatment, but the words "buy you more time" were used, which was awful to hear.

Wow. That Grosse Savanne place is very impressive. If it were my dads last time, I wouldnt have a problem dropping 5k on staying in the lodge and the guided trips.
Prayers to you and the family

I got choked up reading your post. Thanks for that. I'm going fishing with my dad this afternoon thanks for reminding me how precious that time is.

It really is precious. You may not realize it at the time but it is

Wow. Try to look at it like this - you have an extraordinary opportunity here to leave nothing unsaid. That alone is priceless.
I hope y'all laugh, tell stories and have a blast, maybe even catch some fish.
Who are y'all going with?

Cool, I have heard great things about them.

I follow them on IG an I have a neighbor who went with them. They hammer the SacAuxLait pretty good.

Wow. Sorry to hear about your dad. Enjoy every minute you can and I hope you have a record setting trip for you to cherish forever. Like other said video would be great to remember and reflect back on that final trip that you guys could enjoy. Prayers sent to you and your family.

Go to Toledo Bend, get a guide (white perch should be getting good), and enjoy a few days.
You are getting to do a final trip. Not everyone has the opportunity to plan one last event with their Dads.
Make the most of it and make some good memories while you can.

Also no real medical services nearby.
If you're fishing in the middle part of the lake, there are services. There is a medical office at Toledo Town, and a hospital at Many which is a few minutes away.
Worst case, you can always call in a helicopter and go to the nearest hospital.
