Went to see the folks in Morgan City today and was fortunate to see this beauty flying over dads house. Also saw 6 eagles flying around but didn’t get any shots of those. Enjoy.

I saw my first one of the year, about a month ago, flying in the Atchafalaya Basin. They are an incredible bird.

Such a pretty bird.
Haven't seen one since I was last in the boot a couple years ago.
In my area we have the Mississippi Kites. They're an impressive bird as well but it's cool seeing something different from time to time.

I see a pair every year in Thibodaux, they show up in March and are gone in a month or so. I saw one grab a baby mockingbird out of a nest. That momma bird was pissed.

Had one patrolling the tree tops off Rosedale Road last week. See them over the A. Basin regularly during the summer.

There were 3 over St. George Island State Park the weekend before last, I never get tired of watching them.
They come through the Florida panhandle pretty early in migration, mostly in March.
One of the most impressive things I've ever seen was over a field in SE Georgia in the late summer. There is a beetle that emerges from the ground and Swallow-tailed Kites and Mississippi Kites show up to feed. There were around 75 Swallow-tailed Kites and 15 Mississippi Kites putting on an air show. We drove for a few hours to see it and it was well worth it.
