I have a 6.5CM with a 24" barrel. I use the rifle for deer and pig hunting, and it killed two deer and three pigs last year. I'd like to put a suppressor on it. This will be my first one, and the CGS Hyperion K has caught my eye. I really like what I've read about the full-size Hyperion, but my concern is that a full-size suppressor on my 24" barrel would be both very heavy and very long. I could cut the barrel down I guess, but I'd rather avoid that if possible.

So anyway, I'm looking at ordering the Hyperion K. Does anybody have any experience with these suppressors? If not, any other suggestions for a 6.5cm deer rifle?

KGM

Here is a link to KGM suppressors. They’re very light weight and shorter than most. They’re designed with tight tolerances to make sure that your poi doesn’t shift when you put on or take off your suppressor.

CGS makes the best silencers for rifles out there. They are absolutely insane. Read PewScience. It is the only silencer testing that matters. I sold an even amount of Hyperion and Hyperion ks. Keep in mind, Helios QD Ti is coming soon. Very light, 1 inch longer than a Hyperion k, and as quiet as a thunderbeast ultra 9

I have a Q Thunder Chicken on mine (6.5 cm with 26" barrel). It is very long but if I have it I'm sitting in a blind or a box and really don't care about the length.

If I do want something shorter I grab my Ruger American Predator in .308 with an 18" barrel or my AR-10 with 18" barrel.

Just be realistic with how you will be using the gun. If you're in a stand does the extra length really matter?

And weight between is pretty minimal.

Thoughts on a choice between the two?

The gun will mostly be used in stands and boxes, like the earlier poster said. I didn't buy it to be a walk through the woods gun. Thinking about the length just makes me a bit nervous because I already feel as if the rifle is long.

I ordered the Banish 30 back in January. Hope to have it soon.

Can anyone take advantage of a suppressor or do you need some kind of special permit/license?

Or up to a year. With the current administration I'm not sure how much longer they'll be available.

For just hunting, I would do the K. The Hyperion full length is so ridiculously quiet but the K on a 24 inch Creed will be plenty quiet and weighs nothing and adds very little length. On a 22 inch Creed, the Hyperion full length is quieter than a lot of bolt action .300 blackouts suppressed and subsonic. This is with supersonic ammo in the creedmoor. But yeah, for your purpose, go K or wait for Helios QD Ti. It will be their best all around can and will sound phenomenal on ARs if you have any (Hyperion K is great for ARs too because of very low back pressure).

Whichever one is in stock.

Also look at the Thunderbeast suppressors.

But right now, Id look at the available options that are "in stock"

Glad to read that. I have pretty much decided on the K for setup very similar to OP's.

@OP - what rifle do you have? I ask because I have a Bergara and contemplated cutting the barrel down, but the barrel is fluted so it might get weird.

I have a Q trash panda for my .300 blkout for my pig set up and for deer i have a browning X bolt 7mm-08. Ive been contemplating putting a cherry bomb muzzle break on the 7mm08 barrel and using the trash panda on there also. Do you recommend that? its a box stand gun so im not concerned with anything thing other than sound level

Yeah, get a device for every gun you have. I like direct thread cans personally because they save weight and cost but if you already have a trash panda, get another cherry bomb. I will say, Hyperion K is lighter and shorter and quieter than a Trash Panda with half the back pressure if you ever run it on ARs. The Q products are optimized for subsonic while CGS is optimized for supers without losing on phenomenal subsonic suppression. But if you don't want another can (I totally get it if you don't), buy the cherry bomb.

Thanks for the helpful info. Is there any adapter or other device I will need for the Hyperion K? My barrel is threaded 5/8-24”.

No. Hyperion K is 5/8x24. Unless you have a very small shoulder, in which case you need a cgs adapter (because the suppressor was designed to work with a 25° taper but is reverse compatible with the 90° shoulder) but that is usually only for ultra thin profile barrels. Send a pic of the muzzle without the brake on it to me at my username at gmail and I'll tell you if you need a Hyperion adapter. Also, since the Hyperion K and Trash Panda are in a similar size category, grab a normal Hyperion. That way you can enjoy a longer and shorter can. If sound suppression is what you are looking for, a normal Hyperion will ruin you on everything. You can shoot it all day with no ears with full power supersonic ammo and not experience any discomfort.

Thunderbeast makes quality cans but they are never in stock. Hyperion is much quieter than an Ultra 9 too. Also, Hyperion is just as repeatable and poi shift is very minimal just like the TBAC cans. Nothing wrong with TBAC but I cancelled my order with them for a dominus in anticipation for the Helios QDTi.

I know you didn’t ask about this, but a hunting rifle with 30+ inches of barrel sounds miserable, no matter the dB level. I went from 22” to 18” + a can and it felt like I was walking around with a telephone pole.
