Suggestions on how to Coon-proof a deer feeder

Just changed out my sd card on my camera for the first time, and I'm feeding a healthy family of coons on a daily basis. Probably got 1000 pictures of them hanging from the feeder legs or motor/battery box. I think they were even waiving at the camera a few times. It's a Moultrie Elite. Will a cage work? A coworker mentioned putting 3" PVC around the legs so they spin off. Saw some shark teeth spike strips on youtube that look effective too. Let me know what the OB thinks.

If I knew the answer to this I'd be a millionaire

3" inch pvc pipes hanging from a metal wire works great. Must be wire not string so it doesn't just twist around the leg. Needs to be a 3" inch or more pipe also and must be long enough so they don't just jump it. Hang it about 12 inches from the top of the leg and 4 ft long or so. Works well and is great for laughs too. They get really frustrated.

how long of a wire? and what's to stop the wire from twisting around the leg?

Ha not as pricey as you think man, its like a garbage can from Wally World 19 bucks for the feeder, probably got 100 bucks tied up in it total.

Carpet tack strip tie wrapped or glued to the legs.

Crisco on the legs
It works

Wire needs to be no more than 18 inches from the top. Maybe even as short as 12 inches from the top. It needs to be drilled and attached somewhere to the frame at the top so that if it does twist it'll have a spring back effect. It works really well. May have to play with it some but it'll work.

Crisco on the legs
I tried axle grease a couple years ago and figured the deer would get used to the smell and eventually start eating the corn from the feeder. WRONG! I left it for months and they wouldn't come. I had to change the legs and move the feeder.
I guess the Crisco would be a better option.

Hang a wire mesh cage around the spreader, chicken coup wire works
Allows corn out, doesn't let coons in

That's what I wound up doing. I tie-wrapped chicken wire around the feeder. My only issue is that it cuts down on the distance the corn is thrown considerably. I don't know if it matters or not.

Yes it does knock down on spread width, might could play with the wire gaps a little to determine what size additional openings you could cut while also not allowing coons access

Fly bait and canned cat food does the trick every time.
