Me and a buddy went to a local state preserve to dick around in the woods for a little, on the way there we stopped at the gas station real quick for some beer and dip and there was a sign taped to the door about a missing dog (we didn't really notice the missing poster at the time). We ended up really deep into the preserve, I'm talking a few miles more than we ever had before and it was all thick palmettos.

We eventually came to a small opening under an oak tree and noticed 7 or 8 mutilated dogs on the ground, they were all skinned and chopped up into pieces and their heads were all bashed in and cut off. When we got closer we realized the bodies were still warm, or at least fairly warm and had no signs of decay. We found a small trail leaded back out of the clearing on the other side and immediately hauled arse back the way we came, we didn't break from a sprint the few miles until we were back at the truck.

When we headed home we stopped at the gas station again to get beer for later that night and we noticed the sign and it looked like one of the dogs we saw in the woods. We gave the guy a call and told him what we saw and he wanted us to show him where it was at.
We met the guy, his son, and another guy at the preserve and all headed in with our guns this time. By the time we made it back to the spot, it was just over an hour since we were there before. This time the dogs were gone and the only signs were blood, fur, some loose meat scraps, and some fresh boot prints headed down the other trail. We all decided that it was in our best interest to turn around the way we came and the owner of the dog was going to call the police once we got back.

I haven't been back there since and I don't plan to return any time soon. A man who could do that to those dogs could easily do it to a human as well.

Ex S/O and I were near Talkeetna, AK which has some interesting people. We were walking by the Susitna River looking at Mt McKinley and two women were "bathing" in the river totally nude. Nice looking ladies. They just chatted with us like it was nothing unusual for about 10 minutes.

Damn, guys, I don't have anything interesting like some of you.

But I did learn early on never to go into the woods without a gun. And when I was about 16, I saw Deliverance. That only reinforced my belief to never go out in the wild unarmed.

Not really strange but scared the hell out of me....

Several years ago I was turkey hunting one of my normal hunting spots near town and near a new subdivision. I had two birds gobbling their brains out. After about and hour of hunting they were coming in, I was in an open but thicker bottom, I could see about 40-50 yds. I hear the turkeys spitting and drumming and get my gun up. I then hear them walking to me quickly, I take the safety off and get ready to shoot. As they break out of the privet hedge they were behind, rather than two turkeys a female jogger and her baby in a baby bjorn pop out of the thicket jogging by through the woods. They never had any idea I was there. I always identify my target so I would have never shot, however it is the only time in my life I had a loaded gun pointed at someone with the safety off. To this day that episode scares the hell out of me. I haven't been back to that spot to this day to hunt, and there were NO trails leading through there, the lady was just out for a jog through the woods.....

Alright, so here's my story about Fayette

Damn that would have made me have to change my pants. Never had anything like that, but seen a couple of odd things...

One day my Dad and I were metal detecting way back on some family property here in GA - in a pine field of what used to be a plantation way back when. This was a pretty good sized field pretty much surrounded by hardwoods with the expection of a creek on one side. The hardwoods bordering the creek area where some of the biggest oaks I have ever seen.

We have found all kinds of stuff there - from colonial, to Revolutionary, to Civil War - but thats not the point of the story. There is an old grave near the creek bank that was only partially readible, but the year said 1828.

The pine field was pretty clear of undergrowth, but there some smallish hardwoods mixed in like magnolias and all. And it had not rained for a bit, so it made for noisy moving. It was late spring/early summer and there was no wind or even a breeze whatsoever. And it was quiet. Anyway, I was detecting in the middle of the field and Dad was on the side near the creek bank.

Ever get the feeling that someone is watching you? Well, I did. The hair on the back of my neck literally stood up, and quite honestly, I got kinda freaked out. I look up and there is this figure in what appears to be an old grey coat/top (it was a warm and muggy day) - much like those the Confederates wore - walking through the trees and not more than 30 - 40 yards away, and not making a sound. Not at all. Keep in mind that it was dry, and anyone who has spent time in dry woods knows how noisey this can be. As I am watching, this figure/person/whatever turns and looks and vanishes into the trees. I mean he/it never made a sound.

That was kind of creepy. But that place seems to be like that. I have only had the feeling of being watched one other time there out of the many times we have detected there, but I didn't see any thing. I am not a believer in ghosts, but I don't know what in the hell that was...

I have no plans on going back to ask the proper terminology. I did have to spend three or four more days cruising the rest of the property though, so it's not like I just got to GTFO forever

I have had only one other odd experience like the field one I have posted while in the woods.

When I was little, we lived in the same house that my Grandfather lived in for a long time (he passed when I was five). When I was little, I used to play in the woods behind the house - which was primarily composed of oaks and not a lot of undergrowth.

One day when I was probably 10 or so, I was back in there and was going down one of the trails we made when I looked up and saw someone sitting against one of the old oaks - his back was to me, but I could see what he was wearing which was old coveralls and a flannel shirt. And he had a shotgun across his lap. But something seemed odd in that it seemed like he was sitting in a ray of sunshine through the trees and seemed to almost have an aura about it. I stopped, turned around, and left as quietly as I could. As I was leaving, I turned but he was gone - no sound, nothing.

For some reason, I never told Dad about it until years later. I was looking through a photo album and when I saw a picture of my Grandfather - wearing the same outfit as the one I saw years ago. I told Dad about what happened and he said that Grandpa used to squirell hunt back there and that it may have been him. Was kind of freaky, though.

Strange/sad/scary-

While turkey hunting this spring, I decided to check an old place I hunted years ago. I ease around the field, checking for sign, and eventually make my way to the back field. I ease to the creek, still looking for tracks then down the creek a ways until I come to a four wheeler trail. I decided to walk the trail and see where it went since I didn't remember it being there before. Eventually, I come up on a hog pen, and it kind of freaks me out. At this point I realize I'm not on the land I thought I was because it had been logged since I had been there last. I walk past the pen and right up on a dog. It scared the shite out if me because I didn't expect it. I see the dog is tied to a small gum with a cable. As I'm trying to get it free, I see that the cable is around it's neck and has cut into it's neck.

At this point, I'm pissed off and a little freaked out. I was waiting on the people to show up, and was prepared to point my gun at/shoot someone(if absolutely necessary) for the first time ever. I was determined to get it free, so I broke the tree and slid the cable over the top. I led the dog out of the woods with the cable still attached and every time the cable would hit a limb or stick, the dog would bite it because of the pain. I felt bad for the dog and honestly hope a wild boat rips whoever did that to them a new one. I never did get the cable off but got him away from there at least. WhenI was climbing over the gate to my truck the dog ran off. I did what I could do at least.

I was walking through the woods one day and had a pack of 5 wild dogs run up on me and start flipping their shite. It was the fastest I have ever sharpened a stick in my life.

Never went in the woods again without a piece

Working on a property in St. Helena and came across a few black plastic pots with about 2-3 foot stalks in them. Went a little further into property and found about 15-20 marijuana plants and a jug of plant fertilizer.

One night, a strange woman wearing nothing but a short t-shirt came up to the window of our living room and put her face right up to the glass.

Scared the crap out of my wife.

I went outside, and she asked me if I could give her a "ride to North Carolina." (We live in Augusta, Georgia.

I said, "North Carolina? Do you know how far North Carolina is?"

She said, "Well, up the road than."

More funny than weird. While playing golf in Alabama, my buddy hit an 8 iron onto the green. A fox trots out of the woods and goes up to his ball. He ran off as we were walking to the green. We figured the fox stole his ball, but when we got to the green we saw what really a happened. The fox took a dump right on top of his ball. Play it as it lies??
