Bizarre update:
Sad.
Sounds like the shotgun used was his own gun.

State police say no one else was involved in the shooting. The body of 47-year-old Sergeant Paul Stuckey of Zachary was found by local fishermen near the Mississippi River, just outside of St. Francisville. Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Robert Barham says they are not sure what happened, and are still investigating whether the shooting was accidental or self-inflicted on purpose.
Sad.
Sounds like the shotgun used was his own gun.

1.) Why was he not wearing his jacket?
2.) Why after dark are there not two agents in the truck?
3.) Why did dispatch not try to talk to him for 4 hours?
4.) Why did it take nearly 30mins to report to the 5-0?
vests wont stop most rifles
i have never seen two agents together
Terrible news

Sounds like they think it was self inflicted. Sad news either way.

Sorry to hear this sad news. Prayers sent to his family and friends. Relieved that someone is not out in the woods shooting agents.

I have never seen an agent alone but I hint and fish in shell beach.

I heard another report today that no others were involved. Still undetermined if it was accidental or not.

Agents work alone all the time in this area. Paul worked this area for a long time and he is irreplaceable and will be missed. Prayers for him and his loved ones in these tough times

I've seen two agents together tons of times but all in south/coastal Louisiana.
There was a few things that caught my attention with this story. First, why would someone shoot an agent for just poaching. Doesn't seem worth it even for a crazy person. Seems like the cause of this was a different situation.

you can't rationalize the decisions of irrational people

The agent was shot with a shotgun which means whoever shot him had to be really close. Agents have guns also. Seems hard to belive if the agent was investigating someone he let them get close enough to shoot him with a shotgun but didn't draw his own weapon but who knows. I'm interested to see the outcome of this. I had a grandpa, great uncle, and uncle that all were wildlife agents.

Everything I am hearing is that he shot himself, it was with his own weapon, the question is if it was accidental or self inflicted

How can one shoot themselves in the chest with a shotgun on purpose? I'm not buying it. Even accidental sounds far fetched.
