What a sad waste. We have programs like that here and I've never heard of any issues. We also do it through our church. frick the gov't.

I donate about 50lbs of tuna and yellowtail filets every year to the local food bank. Luckily they are very thankful and hand it out.

WTF? You want to trade for some deer meat?

That program has been in place for years and some crackhead comes in and thinks his free meal of beef tips don't taste right and now there is 3/4 ton of meat rotting in landfill.

I work with these guys and others in Shreveport that work with the homeless. I believe this goes much deeper than the health inspector. Shreveport is waging a battle against homeless people and doing everything in their effort to keep organizations from helping these people in order to get them into their shelter in which they are paid by the Federal government for the number of people they have in their shelter. So places like this cut into their profits. I don't know if it was a person eating the food or someone in Shreveport's government that made the complaint.

Earlier this year there was a group that spent a lot of money renovating a downtown building to house people trying to get back on their feet and after they did all the work Shreveport wouldn't give them the permit to operate. It really is a mess.

I would but I'm on the west coast. Best trade I can make out here is tuna for abalone. I aint gonna dive for a shellfish when there's kelp to get tangled in or white sharks waiting to eat you. I leave that up to the natives around here.

I kind of understand considering there is no regulation of the handling of meat, but most deer meat is handled better then the commercial products out there. I mean, this donation program has been going on for years, has there ever been a problem in the past? I have heard of a lot of problems with e-coli being in commercial products.

I donated a deer there, It was left out in 40 degree weather for 2 days, wasn't sure if it was still good or not, started to have a slight smell to it so i didn't want to eat it and I figured it ought to be good enough for homeless people. I also had to take a poo and used the warm meat as toilet paper.
