I ruined my yard one year with Weed and Feed. The previous year I had used it and it made my lawn noticeable greener than the neighbors within a week. The following year I used it again, still followed the directions exactly, applied the same stuff under the same conditions, and the lawn went brown and shitty within days. Don't touch the stuff now.

I didn't have much of a weed problem before, so after that, I just stuck to fertilizing, but this week my neighbor's clover finally started to encroach. I sprayed the yard with a mix of Hi-Yield Atrazine, Weed Free Zone, and Spreader/Sticker. A lot of the weeds seem to have started wilting, but none have clearly died after about 3 days. Gonna water the lawn and give it a shallow cut in a few days, but if the weeds don't die, should I spray again or just keep the lawn cut but not cut too short and hope the grass can just outcompete the weeds?

Anyone know where I can find some 15-5-10 fertilizer in the BR area? I tried Home Depot Louisiana nursery and cleggs but they didn’t have any.

Sounds like 2015, that happened across the south, including my sister and brother-in law's lawn, They wound up getting a whole new lawn sodded (paid for by Scott's) because of it.

Son of a gun. Used that exact product and my lawn, especially in the back, looks like dog poop. I wonder if it got nuked and I just missed the memo until now

Damn. Thankfully mine wasn't that bad. My lawn developed splotches of brown and sickliness, but it had mostly recovered after a month or so.

Pointdog, I sprayed some hi-yield grass killer on the Dallis grass . How long do I have to wait until I start to see it dying some ? It’s going on 2 days and it’s green as ever .

It'll take a week for it to start dying out. The cooler temps make the herbicides work slower.

Back yard is full of bluegrass. Just sprayed it with altrazine. Hope it knocks that crap out. Will it kill the seeds?

It should knock it out. Atrazine works as a pre-emergent for poa annua when applied in late fall.

Atrazine is supposed to be good for both pre-emergent and post-emergent control, so it should kill the grass that's there and prevent more from growing.

Just FYI, I added some spreader/sticker (a surfactant that helps the herbicide stick to the plants above ground) when I sprayed atrazine this year and I noticed it worked better and faster than it had in the past. I wouldn't suggest spraying again, but if you're not happy with job the atrazine does on the post-emergent weeds this time, might be something to consider for next time.

A 16-4-8 or is more common (atleast in SC). Try asking for that.

I've been in a new house since October. I threw out some "contractor mix" on this great expanse of bare soil I have in the back that is left over from gardening, burning, etc. I raked it up real nice before hand, and have watered everyday. Problem is, I threw it last friday, and now it has been really cold. Is the seed going to take hold? I wanted to get something down just to have something there.

The rest of the yard seems to be some type of bermuda, st. aug, or centipede. No expert obviously. What should I do ? I might go scrape some sod pieces from the other side of the road that a field is on and throw those down

So is it ok to mix two treatments in the same yard sprayer. As in 1.5oz atrazine and 1.5oz 2-4D (or something else) within the same gallon yard sprayer. Or would that cause too high of a chemical concentration?

Seed will be slow to germinate, but keep it moist. Should take off soon.

Many chemicals are safe to mix, following the general rules of:
1 Fill the tank ¼ to ½ with carrier and
begin agitation
2 Add compatability or defoaming agents
if needed
3 Pesticides, in the order of WP, DF,
WDG, F, FL, ME, EC, S, SP
4 Crop oils or surfactants

But for the small amount you are working with, just go separate.

Whenever you start seeing dallis grass again, spray it. It's a contact killer.

The younger the grass is when you spray the better.
