My weeds aren't dying! Last Saturday I sprayed Top Shot and Sethoxydim all over my front (st aug centipede mix) and back yard (st aug centipede Bermuda mix). I used a surfactant this time so I know that wasn't the issue. I did spray after I cut the grass. Obviously I have screwed up somewhere or I'm just being impatient. Could that light rain we had on Sunday screwed it up?

For the first time since I owned my house the burweeds are bad this year. My kids cant walk barefoot anymore. I read one of the LSUag PowerPoints that said it's too late to treat now. Anyone know why this is the case?

Once the stickers are formed and hardened, they have to rot away. I usually tell people it's like killing a pine tree in your yard when you don't like the pine cones that are already on the ground.

Yes. Around Thanksgiving. Or just start spraying for it starting early February. It's a broadleaf, so fairly easy to eradicate with a post-emergent.

New yard guy here. Without much research, I put down a couple bags of Scott’s Bonus S weed and feed about 2 weeks ago. Didn’t have enough to finish the backyard and decided to wait and see how it worked before buying another bag to finish. Pleased to say that it killed all of the burweed (too late to help with the stickers, but it’s dead) and there was a noticeable difference in the color of my St Augustine grass from where it was treated and not treated. Much darker green where it was treated.

Anyways, the more research I’ve done, the more it says not to use a weed and feed. That I should use a preemergent in the fall (for the burweed), then a post emergent again in early February, and to fertilize separately beginning in mid-April.

My questions are:

1. Can you guys recommend specific products for me to use for each (preemergent and post emergent weed killer, and a fertilizer. Granular preferred)

2. Are my timelines above correct?

3. Can I use the bonus s in the fall as a preemergent/fall fertilization? Or should I do it separately in the fall too? (Thinking October)

Bermuda. It truly is a weed anywhere but a sports field/golf course.

I have 3 patches of torpedo grass, each about 8" wide, in my otherwise nice, young St. Aug lawn. Last summer I had 1 patch and sprayed it with roundup. The weed withered and I had an 8" dead spot for the summer. Now it is back in exactly the same spot, along with 2 amigos, each about 6' away from the original bastard.

Boot, what should I do? Dig them up and plug with St. Aug?

I sprayed MSM Turf a couple weeks ago, and a few days after that I put down nitrogen at the rate called for (or close to) what my soil sample showed. My yard is turning a beautiful dark green, except for where I sprayed the MSM Turf, it is still a yellowish color. Apparently spraying MSM Turf does cause some chlorosis of the grass according to the label. Does anyone know how long this chlorosis usually lasts?

Keep trying the roundup, digging it up, etc. It's a tough battle to fight. I've found there's no "one and done" with torpedo. Good luck.

Assuming your application rate of MSM was correct, several factors determine how long the chlorosis will last. Temp stress, drought stress, etc will all prolong it. What turfgrass?
