The classic H&H spinnerbait has never let me down. The double hooks catch everything that thinks about taking a bite.

Including getting hung on every piece of grass. Used to call them Hang & Hang, but they'll catch everything in a farm pond.

Thanks for the advice. I want to say this was a 5/16 with two smaller blades, one gold, one silver, both Colorado. I noticed small baitfish jumping around the trees so I felt like fish were feeding.

I tried a fluke first, then a Rattle Trap and caught a couple on the trap. Then I went to a standard size spinner bait with large willow leaf blades with no luck. The smaller bait and blades seemed to do the trick.

I used to use Kajun Boss out of Centerville but he appears to be closed now and I'm starting to run low.

War Eagle makes a line of finesse spinnerbaits that I use a lot.
They are light wire but are fish catching machines that will usually hold up pretty well.

I make my own. 3/8, 1/4, 1/8 but the 1/8 ones are harder to make

Yes, but they don't make the original titanium wire ones anymore.

At one time I’m have said Humdinger but not anymore. Had the wire break off right at the head twice way before that shoulda been a concern. Been using Delta for about a year and so far so good

Humdinger is still a great spinnerbait. I've used them to catch redfish for a long time. But they do have a lighter wire, which requires you to inspect where the wire enters the head. If i was fishing tournaments, if i saw any indications that there was fatigue in that area I would tie on a new one. If I'm just fishing and it's catching fish, I throw until failure. Smallmouth seem to do as much damage to them as reds and choupique.

This is a common problem with spinnerbaits that either have a long wire or super thin wire. When pouring the bait, there cant be any space at the top of the head or if you are doing a triangle style head, like a War Eagle, then you need to stress relief the wire. We use two types of clear coat on the heads, including a final epoxy clear coat that runs up the wire a little to add stress relief to that junction. Even with a thin wire, that will eliminate movement which eliminates wire breakage at the head.

If you are breaking the wire at the "R" bend tie area, that is very difficult to eliminate If you are bending the bait multiple times back and forth. Most baits use stainless wire (we do for sure) and if you are bending the bait at that junction, it will eventually break. You can use a twisted wire tie that, which we offer on all our baits, and that will help eliminate breakage at the line tie

I’ve gotten to where I use chatter baits way more than spinner baits. Grew up on a snagless sally with pork rind trailer.
