They all look the same when a flame thrower hits them.

Orb Weaver of some sort.

That’s as far as my OB knowledge goes. Banana Spider while I was growing up.

I’ve got a hunting spot that has hundreds of them.

Makes for an eventful time when I’m mowing my lanes. They will be crawling all over me and the tractor

Think that may be a golden silk orbweaver.

That’s an invasive (from Asia) Joro spider. NE Georgia is covered in them now.

When I first looked I thought banana like Rize said but noticed that the web didn’t have the typical zigzag of the banana spider.

Looked up joro like AR said. That might be the right one.
Notice the red on it.

Joro

Started showing up here in GA about 8-9 years ago.

Speculation is that they originated from an Amazon fulfillment center in Braselton.

The females are large like the one in your image. The males are 1/10th the size and are often mistaken for juveniles.

They do not present any threat to humans or local ecosystems so, unless you're afraid of "icky bugs" they won't bother you.

The added bonus is that they build large webs that help reduce the flying insect population.

During peak Joro season (Gwinnett) there are so many it's like a horror movie. Just on my back deck this year, I've killed at least 100.
