quote:How are you netting skills? Because man it would have been awesome to have a fourth guy who just drank beer and netted fish. We lost a few big trout trying to net them solo.
My lack of fishing skill is exceptional, but I can out drink and outsupervise all you sonsabitches.
Would absolutely buy someone a case to get drunk and net fish

Last time I went 2 weeks ago we put 40 keepers in the boat and only lost 1 when a line broke on the boat flip. When I get the fish within 10 feet of the boat I put my rod tip touching the water, reel the fish in until it only has 12-18" of line left and swing it in an arc straight into the boat. I immediately open the spool when it's over the boat to not break my rod. Also I'm using a medium action baitcaster 99% of the time.

Man if I go with you that means I can't bring my dog!

Oh we never have any issues losing them when we take the boat.
Landing them when you are belly button deep in water is a more difficult task though.
Getting that fish in close enough to net it with one hand while keeping the line tight/reel dry with the other.
So much easier if you have a buddy next to you in the water that can net it for you.

Yeah, much more of a challenge when wading.

I honestly don't like wade fishing because my gear is too expensive. My cheapest spinning combo is $200 and my cheapest baitcasteing combo is $300. Saltwater and sand if freaking brutal on even the highest end gear.

I honestly think we can find a solution for your problem so that you can enjoy wade fishing.

Yea, just buy cheaper gear. Or so expensive it's invincible. I do surf fish just never deeper than waist deep.

Better gear will hold up in saltwater better than cheap gear... that's what it's made for.

I meant more along the lines of cheaper stuff that is saltwater rated. My stuff is all on the higher end side. Its all saltwater rated, but nothing handles getting submerged very well. I'm bad about submerging reels.
