Thinking of taking my kayaks down to Grand Isle this weekend. I dont typically fish Grand Isle in my kayak. Any recommendations for places to launch where the specks might be?

I saw a few weeks ago a guy smashed some flounder on the road to Elmer's near the red car that's in the water. The water around those canal's looked excellent. Might be worth a look.

any of the 3 small bridges between fourchon and GI are great places to put in with protected water all around

as to the fish part, you are on your own to find them but the fishing has been good

I hope it's not the same guy I went with. I went out of GI though.

I typically have lots of success when I’m closer to Caminada Pass. I usually launch at the end of that canal on your left, on Elmer’s Island Rd, and make my way towards the pass. Can find lots of Red’s and flounder in that canal, and in that little bay that’s on your way to the pass. I have better success with the Specks more towards the pass though.

ive only ever launched in that area once. Caught a bunch of stingrays in the bay but the water was really low. I thought about fishing the rocks by Bridgeside on the way out of the pass. I always see kayaks in that area

You’ll do alright in all the places listed, just make sure you have a shrimp creole matrix shad under a 4 horsemen cork and another rod with a chartreuse rattle trap. Now you’re set.

thanks. I guess I should've been more general with my question. What I meant to ask was are the specks along the beach now or should I be hitting up the marshes close to the beach. Launching from the beach is kind of a pain but I'd do it if thats where they were

We had a trip booked Monday and he messaged me this morning and suggested we reschedule due to the wind forecast being 15+. I appreciate him not taking us out anyway and collecting his fee. I fished with his Dad for years, quality people. Hope y’all had a good trip.

I’d hit the beaches and the back side of the island. Both will hold trout

Water was dirty. Ended up with 70. We worked for them. Great trip.

ETA: other people caught a lot less so I was super satisfied. Definitely will be booking any future trips with him.

Wade fishing Grand Isle

I know better than to ask spots, but was that on plastics or live? I’m hoping to learn how to surf fish now that I’ve got an ATV to cruise the beach, hoping to get some pointers. It won’t hurt my feelings if the boat stays on the trailer.

Saw a video from Bridgeside yesterday, looked like pure pandemonium.

Another 3 man limit this morning. Nothing but plastic both days. Jetties off the public beach. Fish an incoming tide. Lil Jons, sand eels, and Down South Lures.

Once you learn how to wade fish you will be hooked, and will do very well. This morning we were easily out fishing all the boats around us.
