Not a songbird, but someone else mentioned Mississippi Kites - so here are the ones hanging out behind my house for the past several weeks.

Update on that dam nest. Haven't been able to get out much. Dang nest has 5 eggs. How many eggs can the bird lay?

5 is a pretty average number, she might be done, or there may be up to 8! I'm still leaning to prothonotary warbler, would love to get a picture or detailed description of the adults...

Noticed Mom & Dad both bringing food back to nest earlier this week

This lil guy has been hanging out all afternoon

He doesn’t move when I get close but I didn’t want to put my phone in his face

Song birds

Saw another rare one to see in East Texas. I saw a Summer Tanager yesterday and it is the second I've seen in my life. I don't know if they are rare here but they are pretty shy and hence we just don't see them often.

Saw them again today in the same tree. I suspect there is a nest up there.

Wrens will, also. Warblers might do it too.

What I was getting at was starlings are pretty bad about it, and that’s why you make the hole a certain size. I have never seen house sparrows in a blue bird house, but I wouldn’t be shocked by it.
