Someone explain "hunting camp" to me

Guys on the OT are talking about keeping a beard during hunting season because it's too hard to shave at "the camp".
So when you people go to camp you stay there for weeks on end? Don't you have jobs and kids and responsibilities?

I start one in Oct and dont shave to new years or Feb, added warmth and keeps from having to where a mask or paint when hunting.

I know some guys that take three or four weeks off in a row, and live at the camp.

I'm in college and I work on a farm, so it doesn't matter if I have a beard or not. I pretty much live at the camp during hunting season.

I like the added camo/break up the whiteness if my face of a beard during hunting season, and also the general badassedness.
I'll go for 3 days-a week at a time. I don't have many other responsibilities right now though.
Nobody feels like shaving at camp. You hunt, drink, cook, and shower just often enough to not smell putrid.

These people must either be young, bachelors or terrible heads of household

Not since I was in high school during Christmas break.

I think the beard just adds to the spirit of hunting season, winter, etc,
FTR, I have never shaved at a hunting camp.

I'm sure they don't care what you think.

The kids will go on weekends and Christmas break. Guy I work with takes his wife and two sons and daughter for a week. Him and the boys stay another week or so. I don't have a camp, just some property, but I bring my boys in the stand every chance I get.

Yea they would laugh at you considering they are able to spend big bucks on a "hobby" at least some of my hunting buddies.

I can take up to 42 days off in a row with vacation.
Camps vary greatly though. Some high dollar ones have maid service and cooks. They clean and process the game while you drink whiskey, play poker, and chase whores.
Other camps may not have running water or electricity and people pile around a wood burning stove at night.
I have been in both and I had the most fun at the run down shacks with mice running over my sleeping bag at night.

That sounds nice. Where is your camp?

I'm ignorant of this. Where are places like this?

Wherever the big deer are I guess.

Seriously? I can think of a couple in the Natchez and Woodville vicinity.
Texas has more than I can list. Below the Border Patrol checkpoints, there are 3 ring binders with whore photos and bios. Just call 'em up. Truly a hookers and blow scenario. I thought someone was pranking me when I first saw one of those binders.

Yea pretty much where ever you can catch a lot of fish or shoot a lot of animals.

I've never even thought of trying to shave at camp. The most I've spent at my camp was a week during Thanksgiving break and or Christmas break in college. Now, yes I have responsibilites but having a beard makes it more fun. Plus it's warmer and adds camo

They are all up and down the MS river. $200,000-$300,000 buy ins with camp houses that cost that much or more. Lot more common than you would think.

Yes. Have you ever seen me on this board. I have no clue about hunting and outdoors stuff. I like nature though and was just curious about the camps. Only reason I came here is because the OT guys were making it sound like they spend weeks at a time at the camp.
