I couldn't spend more than a week at camp. I can only sleep on that old arse rock hard mattress for so long, and it's a 30 minute ride to the nearest store to buy food or beer when we run out of what was packed.

During hunting season I like to let my hair grow out and not shave. Just part of being rugged and previous listed reasons.

Hard to do that though. Gotta be clean cut for court and the wife hates it. She and kids won't let me near them with a rough arse beard

I'm in college and I usually go with my dad or brother. We have a fishing camp that is used mostly as a home away from home in the wintertime. My dad duck hunts, but that's pretty much it. No bigger game like deer. I have a job that allows me to work remotely when I'm at the camp.

I have friends who have camps that they use for deer hunting. I've been invited to go, but never really had the chance. I want to. it also sucks that I don't know how to hunt deer

Where are places like this?

I know of one on Maryland's Eastern Shore where you're expected to wear a coat and tie for dinner.

This sounds like my camp. Middle of nowhere. But I can stay down there for at least a week. I won't shave while I'm down there, but I don't grow beards all winter

I could never go to a camp like that. I like the rugged outdoorsyness.

Lacour will be asking about getting into a hunting camp in the next few weeks and wondering where he can find/buy a 243-aught-eight!

So let me ask a question for the guys in here. Would you bring your gf to the camp with you? Or do you feel like she would just get in the way . . . .

The club we're in the camp isn't really a place to bring women. It's all bunk beds in the same room so it would be in a room full of dudes.

Yea women come but the behavior doesn't change. If they don't like it they're welcome to leave

I have taken girls to the camp multiple times. If you own your place you can do what you want. Rules are Rules in camps though and there can be guest restrictions.

I missed getting a shot off at a Swamp Monster Buck once because the girlfriend had me preoccupied in the boxstand.

For the most part, I would say it definitely depends on the particular girl in question. If they are going to be miserable out there, why bother. There is nothing worse than a girl squinting her eyes shut and squeeling, "Shoot It" as she begins to cry...and you are about to pull the trigger.

See, it seems as though this is the consensus around here. Personally, I enjoy being out at the camp and I respect 'guy time'. I have a friend who throws a tantrum (she's 22) whenever her BF wants to go to the camp without her. I can understand not being invited every time, but once in a while is nice. But that's just me.

Fishing camps are generally more female friendly. Most hunting camps I've been to are male only. Maybe not the official rules but understood
