Stalks are just about knee high and they are getting gnawed up about 2 inches off the ground.
I'm assuming ground squirell or something.
Anybody tried cayenne pepper or anything else that worked as a deterrent?

Worms having a field day. You need to spray.

My first year growing corn in my back yard garden and I'm already picking some ears that are ready. I'm really surprised how big some of them have gotten. I picked one today that is a good 15 inches long and as full as the working end of a baseball bat.
I really don't have much corn though with only about 60 or so plants and about the same in okra that has been putting out pods for a few weeks now.

I've got Sevin spray. Does that work on worms?

Is this worms or some varmint?

My 93 year old neighbor puts metal spikes in the ground in his garden, I want to say they are copper. Google it, he's had his garden for 40 years and knows his shite.
There's a metal that keeps worms away.

For sure a coon. Cut worms will just notch out.
Get some human hair and spread it around. That might help. That or netting fence or hunt that SOB. Get the sweet spuds ready.

i don't grow corn but ended up in Enterprise, LA today, and overheard some folks today talking about this same issue. two ideas they gave, a radio and the inflatable christmas decorations (snowman, santa, etc).

nutrias decimated my little patch a couple of decades ago. We ended up with corn fed nutria for supper but no corn.
