Blackhawk floods regularly from the Red River side. The levee ends just North of it.

I was out there when it was being built that’s some beautiful land. Flooded timber in spots for duck hunting and the largest free range deer I have ever seen came from that area prior to the high fence.

This may be a dumb question but has the Red been having the same type of flood issues as the MS in recent years? I didn't think it has?

Yes. The red, the black, the ouachita. All of them have been flooding more than normal. Friend lives on ouachita and he would have to boat in to his house once every few years and now it seems like it’s every year

The red is having an even bigger silting problem than the Mississippi the last few years. Man just can’t control alluvial rivers forever. I’d bet something will have to be decided in the next 10 years on the lock and dams before the red river stays in what used to be flood stage 100% of the time.

The LT plan is to lock the Red all the way to Texarkana. They realllyy fkd the Red up south of Shreveport. Only body of water that’s uglier is a shite pond. The USACE has ruined more waterfowl habitat than any other force of nature. Fkn rediculous.

I’ll add the Red north of hwy 2 is a beautiful river especially when it’s low.

Just a couple of 1000 year floods a few years and major flooding nearly every year for 6-7 years, the fishery south of Shreveport pretty much ruined.

So yes
